To Think HQ Need To Change Their Deletion Policy

Waltermittythesequel · 12/10/2016 11:09

Unless I've missed something, which is possible.

The party line was always that they wouldn't delete threads just because OP wants them to.

But that's exactly what they do now. Every single time OP gets in a snit, the thread is gone.

If that's their new policy, fine. Their site, they can do what they want.

But, the deletion message still reads that they don't usually delete threads, but will when a poster's privacy is at risk (or whatever).

So, AIBU to think they should either change their deletion message to "OP wanted the thread deleted" or stop doing it?!

The standard "sorry about this" from HQ there. Yawn.

frikadela01 · 12/10/2016 21:17

What's "the spirit of mumsnet"????

Waltermittythesequel · 12/10/2016 21:18

Anything that gives them an easier life, I imagine.

Jess she did that?! So, stupid as well as a home-wrecker

Soubriquet · 12/10/2016 21:41

Careful not to rehash it too much or this will be deleted as a TAAT

Waltermittythesequel · 12/10/2016 21:46

Again: this is a general complaint. Not a TAAT. Wink

soubriquet. Agreed. I would, however, suggest it is unwise for any Mumsnetter to post pictures of themselves and then engage in what may or may not be a controversial debate.

To be honest, I don't know why it's even an option. If users become friendly amongst themselves, and want to exchange photos/details, that's fine, but encouraging people to put up details of their children and themselves would surely be inadvisable on what is essentially a chat forum?

No-ones getting to see my non-photogenic face, anyway!

Soubriquet · 12/10/2016 21:50

Oh of course

I have posted pictures of my children on here. But not on a controversial thread like that

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 12/10/2016 21:55

What's "the spirit of mumsnet"????

A catch all term when they can't think of a proper reason to delete a thread. It's funny, because mumsnet and AIBU is one of the most rancourous sites I've ever come across(which is why I like it so much)

monkeywithacowface · 12/10/2016 22:03

Apparently being a disabilist twat is in the spirit of mumsnet.

Was really looking forward to reading the rest of the creepy thread tonight, but it's gone.... Sad
