That my period has come back at 8 weeks despite EBF

I'm annoyed, this was supposed to be a benefit of breastfeeding. I'm ebf every four hours including at night and had my first period at 8 weeks postpartum and how have another 2 weeks later. GP says it's not an infection or retained products and that some women just have bad luck!!! I was looking forward to no periods for months not one very two flipping weeks! Weve got through craked nipples, masters and a tounge tie and I thought things were on the up and to top it off I am supposed to be going to a spa tomorrow for a treat (and have painstaking expressed three bottles for my husband to give while I'm there) and now I need to go buy tampax, why me! (Sorry to go on needed a good rant, realise that there are much bigger problems out there)

Steve yes I read 90 odd percent effective for first 6 months provided on demand, through the night, no dummies, no bottles etc. So I guess that explains some people that get their period back earlier.
I guess some people are lucky. I'm not sure if I want mine back or not.. on one hand I obviously don't want that once a month but at same time would be nice to be able to start trying again as soon as I want.

4 hours - so jealous!!!

Yes, my period did not come back until 6-12 months and both my babies rejected dummies and were big comfort feeders all through the night.

MLGs · 11/10/2016 14:01

Mine did at 6 weeks with DD (born at 38 weeks so 4 weeks after due date) and 8 weeks with ds. Dd was ebf at the time. Can't remember if ds was still ebf or combination by that time.

Am going to do misery one up man ship now (sorry for spaces) -

Dd had hole in heart so wasn't sleeping at night at all. She fed all night and only slept when taken out in pram during the day (often by grandma so I got a couple of hours sleep per day)

I almost certainly had pnd with hindsight, probably caused by sleep deprivation, or else on addititonitto it.

My period at six weeks post partum was preceded by horrific pmt.

These things all together nearly finoshed me. I had to curse my body for giving me pmt on top of the rest!

Are you kidding?! I've had 2.5 years of this low-oestrogen state from lactational amenorrhea so I'm envious as hell Smile

StrawberryQuik · 11/10/2016 14:22

That's fab steve DS (6m) feeds every 2 hours and doesn't have a dummy so uses me instead. Maybe my period will stay away for a whole year or more if I'm lucky.

StrawberryQuik · 11/10/2016 14:25

Ah sorry for the X post!

1pink4blue · 11/10/2016 14:29

1pink4blue · 11/10/2016 14:31

Permanently attached to me for the first 4 months now at 19 months she still won't wait 4 hours between a feed sorry about post she kicked the phone during a feed

Stevefromstevenage · 11/10/2016 14:42

MLG you are definitely in the lead. That sounds bloody awful. How did you do it? Flowers

Popsicle434544 · 11/10/2016 15:06

My dd is almost 2 and havnt yet had a period but get excruciating cramping every month, would rather just hav my normal monthlys bak as never used to hav any cramps with them

IrnBrufan · 11/10/2016 15:10

Not to add to your anger but you might not be able to use tampax - I couldn't use them for months after having my baby!!

Stevefromstevenage · 11/10/2016 15:13

I was thinking that too IrnBru but I am guessing she is off at the spa now so she knows one way or another.
