I'm probably going to be slated for this, as being really ungrateful! However, those flowers are headbands BlushShock

Those shoes...

I feel sooo mean, but I know they'll be expecting a nice photo of her in them on Facebook!

Yeah they're horrible. Photo then charity shop.

rudetops · 09/10/2016 21:50

Fair enough...

Thanks for all the comments though.

This isn't to offend, it was just a bit of a joke really, which is actually nasty, you're right...

Thank them for the gift and say they were too small for your baby! And then take them to a charity shop! Or pass them on to other mums that are into that stuff. That's what I did with the stuff I didn't "love" that people gifted to my DD. Although I'm guilty of sticking bow hair bands / flowery head bands on DD! Smile Xx

PaulAnkaTheDog · 09/10/2016 22:07

Yeah, making a joke out of a kindly thought out gift is nasty. Sometimes it can be easy to get carried away with posting things on mumsnet though Smile Ask for mnhq to delete the photo maybe?

MaudlinNamechange · 09/10/2016 22:08

Someone has obviously got very excited about you having a baby, rudetops, which is sweet. But you know that.

I was very touched when my brother's then boyfriend's parents (whom I have never met!) were so excited about my pfb that they sent some slightly... OTT PJs. I kind of think it's the not-to-your-taste presents that are in a way the sweetest, because someone is excited who is not in your immediate little friendship / taste bubble. It's really lovely how people love to get excited about a new baby!

Heidi41 · 09/10/2016 22:10

omg I have finally realised I am getting old I actually really like these op yet years ago I would have hated them eeekkkkk

YabuDabbaDoo · 09/10/2016 22:10

Love the blue/white booties, don't like the flowers.

Mummyamy123 · 09/10/2016 22:17

We're all loving the knitted socks :)
The flowers not so much!!

DonkeyOaty · 09/10/2016 22:22

The booties are adorbs

Headbands no so much

dontcallmelen · 09/10/2016 22:27

Yy the knitted bootees are lovely, I still have some of Ds very similar too the lemon ones, they made me tear up a bit (he's thirty seven😄) not so keen on the flower thingys, agree send pictures & be a little more gracious, it was a kind gesture.

Milzilla · 09/10/2016 22:56

Poor Barb 😢

BathshebaDarkstone · 10/10/2016 06:55

I put DD in a lot of stripy bandannas when she was a baby because her hair wasn't growing and I was getting fed up with people thinking she was a boy, even when she was in a pink dress. Somebody at mother and baby group suggested it. Blush

CurtainsforRonnie · 10/10/2016 06:57

Save them for her dollies/teddies/cat

I love them

eurochick · 10/10/2016 07:00

I like the knitted booties too. The rest... not so much.

Bulbasaur · 10/10/2016 07:06

Hang onto them, in case you have an ugly baby and need something to distract from her face Grin

Of course I'm joking

MidnightRunner87 · 10/10/2016 07:06

The booties are adorable! Headbands not my cup of tea though but I know plenty who do like them.

I remember the worst gift we got for newborn dd was a bright pink/black adidas 3 stripe tracksuit-totally not my cup of tea for any aged child nevermind a newborn. A small mercy though was that it was handed to me with the sentence 'I tried getting a matching one for dc1 (age 3) but they didn't have her size' whilst I looked on a bit like Shock whilst forcing a smile and saying how grateful I was. I couldn't bring myself to put her in it but dh did when I was out (he was like oh it's so lovely) but when I got home he sheepishly told me that she looked like some sort of reject from Jeremy Kyle with her little bald looking head and no teeth Grin

TeaBelle · 10/10/2016 07:09

Do it on 31st October so you can say she's dressed up!

Ilikethedaffodils · 10/10/2016 07:13

Just wondering - what does FML stand for?

ForeverLivingMyArse · 10/10/2016 07:22

Barb? Is that you? Grin

KC225 · 10/10/2016 07:27

Like the knitted booties, all three pairs. Easy to do a photo of those, add a jokey message along the lines of she is not too keen on the wearing the headbands. I will send an update if it changes.

Keep the headbands for dressing up or her craft box, it may seem age away now but it will come around fast enough. Same with the frilly shoes Some teddy, dolly or compliant neighbourhood cat will be wearing those shoes at some point

SnakeWitch · 10/10/2016 07:30

It's a sweet but rather misguided gesture! I can't imagine many people would think that a baby could be improved upon by sticking a massive brown flower on its head, surely? Grin

WeArePregnant11 · 10/10/2016 07:46

The blue white and the yellow white booties are adorable.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 10/10/2016 08:02

daffodils, FML= fuck my life
