To think that it was an easy mistake to make

I ordered my DS a new pair of wellies the other day for his 2nd birthday and my nana has bought him the matching coat. Well today the wellies came and they are an adult's size 6 rather than a child's, silly mistake on my behalf as I should have read correctly when selecting the size.
Here's the thing though, the coat is available from 2-8 yrs, yet it turns out the boots only start from child size 8 (which according to the retailer's guide is suitable for 3 1/2 year old), however they go right up to an adults 7 even though the retailer labels it as a 'junior child' size.
Clearly this is not a serious issue but I guess I just want to know if AIBU to be baffled that the retailer would make matching items that do not correlate in sizes and that they would consider an adult's size 7 shoe to be a junior child's, especially in said wellies which are clearly very child orientated in design

User1471544305 what I choose to get my child as a birthday present is not actually anything to do with yourself, nor was that up for discussion. As you chose to bring it in to the conversation though I will explain that firstly my child has all he needs and does get clothes and footwear throughout the year no matter if it is his birthday or not, I did though choose to also get him these boots as a birthday gift because tbh they are not something that he needs due to the footwear he already has, I just thought they were a nice to have. I have also bought him some toys, but not many due to the fact that many family and friends have also bought him toys and it is Christmas in just 2 months so he will be getting just toys from me then as by that point he will have all the winter clothing he needs already.

I'm getting my DD wellies for Christmas. She loves wellies and will be delighted.
I was actually thinking of those but I'm glad I didn't! I got these from John Lewis instead. They start at 4 (but she's not yet 2 1/2 and is size 6)

Carters in the US also have some fabulous dinosaur wellies. I'm tempted to get my son these ones

My dd had some funky patterned wellies for Christmas last year, as it happens. She's 17. She loved them.

I noticed that Clarks do school shoes with little aeroplanes on right up to the sizes that would fit teenagers so the dinosaur wellies don't surprise me. Maybe it's so mum's can match!

Ugh.. I've had that happen with socks. On the other hand, our feet are matched adult/kid size, so I have some very juvenile looking socks (Amazon didn't want them back).

Maybe the boots are for cute mother/child pictures? I would never wear them. A teen might.

The thought of trying to wrestle the boy to get the boots off is what's making me hesitate Bulbasaur.
If I do buy them I'll need to be prepared to find them in bed with him on a regular basis
