AIBU?

To think that it was an easy mistake to make

I ordered my DS a new pair of wellies the other day for his 2nd birthday and my nana has bought him the matching coat. Well today the wellies came and they are an adult's size 6 rather than a child's, silly mistake on my behalf as I should have read correctly when selecting the size.
Here's the thing though, the coat is available from 2-8 yrs, yet it turns out the boots only start from child size 8 (which according to the retailer's guide is suitable for 3 1/2 year old), however they go right up to an adults 7 even though the retailer labels it as a 'junior child' size.
Clearly this is not a serious issue but I guess I just want to know if AIBU to be baffled that the retailer would make matching items that do not correlate in sizes and that they would consider an adult's size 7 shoe to be a junior child's, especially in said wellies which are clearly very child orientated in design

The thought of trying to wrestle the boy to get the boots off is what's making me hesitate Bulbasaur.
If I do buy them I'll need to be prepared to find them in bed with him on a regular basis Grin

AuntieVenom OMG and they're light up. Good luck getting them off his feet.

My daughter would adore these.

Ugh.. I've had that happen with socks. On the other hand, our feet are matched adult/kid size, so I have some very juvenile looking socks (Amazon didn't want them back).

Maybe the boots are for cute mother/child pictures? I would never wear them. A teen might.

I noticed that Clarks do school shoes with little aeroplanes on right up to the sizes that would fit teenagers so the dinosaur wellies don't surprise me. Maybe it's so mum's can match!

My dd had some funky patterned wellies for Christmas last year, as it happens. She's 17. She loved them.

Carters in the US also have some fabulous dinosaur wellies. I'm tempted to get my son these ones

DrSpouse thanks for tip, I'll definitely be looking them up as DS would love them and they'd still look OK along side his Dinosaur coat

I'm getting my DD wellies for Christmas. She loves wellies and will be delighted.
I was actually thinking of those but I'm glad I didn't! I got these from John Lewis instead. They start at 4 (but she's not yet 2 1/2 and is size 6)

To think that it was an easy mistake to make

Bike thanks for jojo tip will pop down tomorrow, tbh I'd given up on high street, after trawling round a few.

user1471544305 what a nasty and unnecessary post .

User1471544305 what I choose to get my child as a birthday present is not actually anything to do with yourself, nor was that up for discussion. As you chose to bring it in to the conversation though I will explain that firstly my child has all he needs and does get clothes and footwear throughout the year no matter if it is his birthday or not, I did though choose to also get him these boots as a birthday gift because tbh they are not something that he needs due to the footwear he already has, I just thought they were a nice to have. I have also bought him some toys, but not many due to the fact that many family and friends have also bought him toys and it is Christmas in just 2 months so he will be getting just toys from me then as by that point he will have all the winter clothing he needs already.

Just as an aside, our local shoe shop had stopped selling Joules wellies because they'd had so many returns due to leakage.

Girls will often get their adult foot size at 13/14. I was an adult 7 by then.

I've got size 6 feet and I can't see any teen or adult wearing those wellies , how ridiculous ,they are obviously designed for small children and definitely under 10s .

Funky wellies are quite "in" with teens.

Obviously not coats though.....

Some small kids have big feet though I guess. My boy just turned 11 last month is an adult 8. Annoying as I now have to pay adult prices for a not yet teen. Though to be fair he wouldn't be seen dead in those wellies, he's far too cool Wink

I re-checked the Joules website and it's definitely not a mistake on their side, it appears that all of their children's wellies go from kid's 8 to an adult's 7. I truly don't know any teenagers or adults that would ever been seen in wellies like these though. Oh well, I'll just have to look around and try to find a plain pair, though now I've got he arse-ache of returning these things and waiting for a refund: the reason I hate online shopping Angry

Yanbu, I am just entering the realms of this with a walking 1year, can get her waterproof clothes but no size 3 wellies. Double socks for puddle jumping this year!

CatchIt because letters are used to refer to shoe width?

Joules would hate me, I was an adult size 9 when I was 12!

No self respecting 13 yr old is going to be seen dead in some wellies and a matching coat like that!
I love Joules stuff but I agree that's got to be a mistake as only little children would wear them.

YANBU, I had that child's shoe sizes are so complicated. Why not give them letters instead of numbers as I'm always worried about an adults pair arriving through the post!

Do you think Joules made a mistake when they ordered them from the factory (or wherever they get them made up)?
