To not want to go on this holiday?

I know I am AIBU and sound like a spoilt bitch but I'm feeling really gutted.

We decided to splash out on a really expensive holiday we can barely afford because we desperately need a break after a very very hard year. It's an all inclusive beach holiday and there's really not much to do except relax by the beach or pool and watersports.

Anyway we are flying out tomorrow and the weather forecast is unseasonably awful :( Cold and raining.

We are all going to be sleeping in one room with the DC, figured in the evening we could sit outside on our balcony and drink wine, in the day play on the beach and go swimming with the kids.

I hate flying and DC gets car sick so the travelling will be awful and stressful. We can't hire a car and go exploring for the same reason. We will be stuck in one room.

I just feel like not going. Help me see the bright side, please?

The first day or two look ok. After that it's rain and 17 degrees type thing.

You will still be on holiday.

The forecast could quite easily be wrong.

Are you using the iPhone weather app? If it's showing a rain cloud everyday, it doesn't mean it'll be raining all day everyday, more likely that there may be a short spell of rain at some point in the day.

Chloe I'm using whatever Google uses. It's saying rain pretty much all day some days

I'm in a similar situation but long haul, meant to be holiday of a lifetime - I am desperately worried. I misinterpreted weather forecast for this time of year (leaving in 3 weeks) and now find we are heading into torrential rains and nigh on 100% humidity with temperatures much higher than I'd thought. And we're all in one room - there was no need for that I just went with it and booked a hotel, and then teenage DDs said they would find that difficult.

I have medical problems which make flying very uncomfortable and I may not be able to use the pool (when I booked I hoped it would be resolved by now). Top it all one of the hotels is now also being used as temporary accommodation for homeless people and DDs have said they wish we'd chosen another area in any case. Everything is more expensive than we'd budgeted for. And we got a credit card to use for the holiday which we discovered has very high fees for non-sterling transactions.

Finally, with less than 3 weeks to go we only have enough outfits for 2 days each in the heat (everything else is unsuitable) so need to do 6 months worth of shopping in 2 weekends.

Now, have I missed anything ....?!! BUT - I've had wobbles like this before, and in the end its been ok; I always think look at the holiday through the DCs' eyes you might find they think its magical and if the kids are happy that's half the battle. You have my sympathies OP; maybe we should check back in after these holidays and compare notes!!

Can you let me know where you are both going. Burning Bridges - if you are going to the caribbean or the Far East often its about 20 minutes of rain at say 9 am and then completely fine the rest of the time.

When we ere in thailand in October it was 4pm - 15 minute downpour but everyone was used to it - bags under brollies and all into the pool or sea. It obviously stayed very warm while raining anyway and it just became a habit to do that.

If you have watersports its the same - you are getting wet anyway and so you don't even notice. Go and enjoy the rest if nothing else. If all else fails - I'll go!

Oh sod it if it outs me - there's a few other reasons I'm not looking forward to the holiday. I've cut out a lot of foods from my diet in order to get to the bottom of a health issue and it means what I can eat is extremely restricted. Not fun when you aren't in control of the food. Not fun when you are, come to that.

Secondly, my parents decided to book the same holiday as us at the same time, without asking us if that was ok. I know they are doing it ostensibly to help us with the kids, but frankly sometimes they aren't very helpful (we've seen them 3 times this year) and I know my Dad will make passive aggressive comments blaming me for making the wrong choice about the holiday and weather.

DH is in Portugal this week and has had beautiful weather, sunshine, cloudless skies and 29 degrees. Hopefully it won't be bad all week.

This summer the weather forecast said thunderstorms and torrential downpours for 5 days. We had an afternoon of rain, and bright sunshine the rest of the time.
It kept saying the next day would rain, and it never did. Lugged a load of parkas around for nothing.

So hold on to hope!

I one booked a late September holiday to Greece. It rained every day and was cold. We were staying in cheap sparse accommodation. There wasn't anything to do.

Came home after 1 week, was meant to be staying for 2!

Yello that's where we are going...! Our accommodation is NOT cheap though. I'm hoping if there's room they will upgrade us to a suite for free...

Remember this. A bad day on holiday is always better than a good day at work . Go, pack a jacket and have an awesome time. Or please feel free to send me your ticket and I'll happily take your kids!

I'm not working at the moment. On mat leave. So not even a break from work.

DC are young and we won't be able to take many of the toys etc. Worried they'll be bored and whiny.

Hmmm. I'm looking at Accuweather and pretty much all of Southern Europe seems to be normal holiday weather - temp in late teens to high twenties and no major rain.

BUT I did think I'd just worked out where you were going, as I typed "Rhodes" into the app I normally use and it said 13-15 degrees and rain. Then I realised that it was showing me a place called Rhodes in Greater Manchester!

So in the nicest possible way are you sure you're looing at the correct forecast? We are off to Majorca next week and the forecast for there is 27-30 degrees and sunshine.......

AccuWeather looks good for first day or so then goes to between 15-19 degrees, windy occadionally, rain on some but not all days.

HanYOLO we had already booked and paid for holiday deposit and flights by the time they booked and couldn't afford to lose the money.

I've just looked at the forecast for Rhodes on a couple of diiferent websites and apart from a few showers on Wednesday and a couple of showers on Thursday it is going to be hot at the beginning of the week and 22/23 oC the rest of the week. That looks absolutely fine to me OP. Enjoy your holiday.

How old is dc that gets travel sick? 3 of my 4 still get it. Travel sick tablets or if littlie bands are great.

I know you don't want to say where you are going, but www.bbc.co.uk/weather is pretty accurate and shows areas like Halkidikias being fine, no rain.

I would be more concerned about how you allowed your parents to invite themselves on your holiday!!!

Are you sure op? Most of Greece looks nice weather to me.
