Aibu to think I can refuse to watch a tv show

Dh's plan for tonight.
Watch episode of tv show 1 (his choice) then tv show 2 (his choice but one I like) then a dvd (undecided).
Rare evening home for dh. He's generally home at 11pm tonight he got in at 6.
I hate tv show 1. Can't stand it. Fucking hate it in fact I tried watching it for a whole season. Couldn't get my head around it. Didn't enjoy a minute of it and couldn't keep up. I ask dh if we can skip tv show 1. He whines, moans and has a bit of a sulk. I say OK then watch it alone I'll just go on mumsnet. Dh calms down, so we search for tv show 2 on Netflix, new season isn't up yet so we try to find it online, can't find a version that will run so I try to skip to a film. I leave him skipping through Netflix and go for a quick wee (damn you pregnancy) come back and find he's put something on, fair enough. I ask what it is, he just says oh you'll see. It doesn't become apparent so I ask again and he says it's called x, do I want to watch it? I said I dunno I haven't heard of it, but it's a bit late now it's on now. To which he turns off the play station and sulks off, claiming I've ruined his night as I won't watch ANYTHING he wants, only thing I said no to was tv show 1, aibu to think I shouldn't be forced to watch shit?

After too many years of arguments about TV watching, we now only watch what we both like and sky+ the rest. I watch mine after he has gone to bed and he watches his in the morning before work.

Its the only way it works. Oh and I am not at all bothered about watching films so he watches them on his laptop

Lucky you've got a TV. I'd watch any crap on TV but DG won't let me have one.

DG?

Oooh, I love once Upon a Time. I've almost finished season 5. Am going to start iZombie from the beginning after, DH picked a good one there.

And he doesn't actually mind if I'm not watching with him, so he's alright.

I quite like OUAT but I watched about 3.5 series in the space of around a month so needed a break. I'm currently watching the other zombie show on Netflix (can't for the life of me remember what it's called). LOVE TWD, haven't tried Breaking Bad.

DH gives little to no shit about what's on tv. If it weren't for Sport, he wouldn't be fussed if we didn't have one, I think.

DH watches Gotham. I hate it and he knows this so turns it off if I am around. In return I don't make him watch romance movies.

But I'm a bit funny about tv shows, so he knows to pander to me if he wants communal viewing.

I've never got this insistence on watching stuff together.

It's nice to find shows / films that DH and I both like (Gotham being one here, although I agree some of the storylines can be a bit silly), but I don't see why anyone should insist (or even want to insist) on their partner actively watching a show they're not all that interested in just for the sake of communal viewing.

DH has no problems with me playing on my phone or wandering off if he's watching something I find dull and vice versa.
