to secretly get rid of our kitten and tell the DC that it ran away?

SaggyBaggyPuss · 25/09/2016 14:37

Have had kitten for around 6 weeks now. DC have wanted a pet for a long time and I gave in and got one for them. Cats are easier to deal with than dogs right?

Well today, I have had enough. I had have to scoop 3 lots of shit out of the litter box and there was a piece of shit on the floor that must have come off her paws and which means that the whole house, and sofa is now covered in cat shit germs Envy puke!

It also runs up the curtains which are now all pulled. My leather --look- dining chairs have scratch marks where it keeps jumping up the back of them and it has pulled up the carpet on the stairs.

DS (6) is constantly chasing it round the house with an incessant cackle (over excited, not cruelly, the cat loves him) which does my head in and keeps taking it upstairs to lie on his bed.

Last week, it has a runny arse and I still have the wounds where I had to bath it, not before it spread kitty shit germs everywhere again.

As a side note, I also suffer from OCD. Not 'a bit' but actually diagnosed.

I love my DCs to bits but they also love the kitty a lot. I am not sure I can put them first this time!

WIBU to find a good home for it and tell them it ran off into the forest and I couldn't find it

I have reported this thread btw, I have doubts about the op.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 18:15

Our cat was a rescue one too. As was one of the previous ones. Another adopted us.

I would love a kitten but feel there are so many cats already needing homes, that it can't be justified. Taking on an animal involves a considerable degree of commitment. You need to research it and not just take on an animal as the OP seems to have done.
It is unfair to give up on your pet and hand it back. Grrrr

AdaLovelacesCat · 25/09/2016 18:16

Traveller it is not necessary. Are you some kind of perfect person who has never made a mistake or never suffered from an illness of the mind?
I seriously doubt it.
If anyone sounds like a 'cunt' and and 'arsehole' here it is you.

bumsexatthebingo · 25/09/2016 18:16

I'm loosing a bit of sympathy for the op as she doesn't actually seem interested in rectifying any of the issues or taking any advice on board re the loose bowels/having her kitten looked at by a vet. Even if she is going to get rid of it - if it is ill it needs to be seen asap.

ghostyslovesheep · 25/09/2016 18:16

I agree Aero

I do think this was posted with more than a little goad in mind

Elephantsaremygods · 25/09/2016 18:16

This is fucking awful.

Why get a cat in the first place? News flash - they do shit.

I have 2 cats who like to puke all over my cream carpets and cost me a fortune in steam cleaning. I'm not going to rehome them because I knew before I got them that cats throw up.

Just fucking do your research before getting a pet. Animals are not disposable.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 18:16

I have reported the thread too.

ohnoonoo · 25/09/2016 18:16

Get a grip Traveller.

Bloody hell. All this over rehoming a cat.

MrsJayy · 25/09/2016 18:16

traveller i think you have made your point

Meh84 · 25/09/2016 18:17

Perhaps think it through a bit better next time? Kittens wreck everything and shit every where, surely everyone knows that. This is why there are so many animals in the rehoming shelters because people just don't think Angry

YABU to lie to your children. Be honest with them.

SouthWestmom · 25/09/2016 18:17

I could easily have posted this - not sure why people think it's trolly.

I will look elsewhere if I need advice on rehoming obviously

Elephantsaremygods · 25/09/2016 18:18

And for fuck's sake, your kids aren't going to pick up "germs" from the cat and if they do what exactly do you think is going to happen Hmm

EmmanuelleMumsnet · 25/09/2016 18:18

Thanks for the reports about this thread.

Just a little reminder to post within guidelines and to spread the peace and love if poss...

Elephantsaremygods · 25/09/2016 18:19

I don't think it's a troll as sadly having volunteered in rescue centres you get a lot of idiots giving animals back because it shocks them when they aren't self-cleaning.

Sigh.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 25/09/2016 18:19

Having a mental illness doesn't make the OP sound like any less of a dickhead. She has had some well reasoned, helpful and empathetic replies, and yet her last post seemed determined to wind people up and think worse of her. There's a name for production who behave like that on the internet.

Give the animal to Cats Protection and don't get another one. Learn to say no to your children.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/09/2016 18:20

The op writing style is a give away.

dybil · 25/09/2016 18:20

RestlessTraveller - You are really vile. Yes the OP made a mistake in adopting the kitten but she has a serious mental disorder and, despite trying, has found kitten ownership too much. I'm sure the OP didn't want this to happen and would stop her obsessive thoughts if she could.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 25/09/2016 18:21

Sorry, cross posted with a few people including Emmanuelle.

freshstart22 · 25/09/2016 18:21

Get rid of the fucking thing

SaggyBaggyPuss · 25/09/2016 18:22

I repeat that the cat will not be dumped.

I agree Poppy that this thread should be reported and is upsetting. All the vitriol and disgusting name calling to a woman with a debilitating mental health condition just because she's thinking of rehoming a cat is outrageous!

OP posts:
miserablesod · 25/09/2016 18:22

If its any consolation my mums cat was an asshole as a kitten, very cute but a total ratbag. Never known such an annoying ball of fur lol. However, she did settle right down and is now the loveliest, cuddliest ball of fur ever, and a very good looking one too!

Ausernotanumber · 25/09/2016 18:23

Oh poor you.

That last post is disgusting. You're an adult. You are now just doing the poor me with my mental Health issues.

You knew you had those issues before you got the kitten. That last post is shameful.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 18:24

What sort of response did you expect when you giggled and laughed, with emoticons, at the end of one of your posts, OP?

ghostyslovesheep · 25/09/2016 18:25

yet a woman who thinks it's all such a lark and so funny Hmm

I'm out

I have mental health issues - you don't have a monopoly on that nor does it give you an automatic out from being an inconsiderate pet owner

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 18:25

I totally agree.
