People eating food they haven't paid for....

....It just really bugs me. To the point of utter revulsion.
In a supermarket, grown adults opening a pack of 4 pork pies and happily munching their way around the shop, only to toss the empty pack to be scanned as their shopping goes through. Why do people do that, have you ever, and why??? (DD had to wait until the car for her gingerbreadman biscuit from Waitrose).

Exactly, why can't they wait before stuffing their faces?

give some of the perps...

Have I stumbled into an episode of The Wire? We're talking about porkpies here, not crystal meth.

Can none of you Hyacinth Buckets actually answer any of my perfectly reasonable questions though? Is snacking in a meeting rank? Is it? Does no one clean up in your supermarket so that crumbs are a real rat risk? Are you really this pathetic or are you, judgy-pants aside, actually nice, decent people? I really do want to know.

No, no, MrsDV, they do it in Waitrose!

I actually lol'ed at 'perps' - brilliant!!

I think this is the Most First World Problem thread evan Grin

MerchantofVenice · 25/09/2016 19:01

Oh, also, does there need to be (for ease when I comes to judging/chav-calling) one single view that encompasses all consumption in supermarkets? So an adult chewing on a spare rib is the same as giving a baby a rice cake? Is that how your world works? I NEED ANSWERS (as opposed to undisguised bullshit).

southeastdweller · 25/09/2016 19:05

Of course this thread has hit a nerve with certain posters who probably do eat in supermarkets, hence the defensive and cod psychological comments.

hazeyjane · 25/09/2016 19:06

If you do chow down on a spare rib in Waitrose you must tuck a large white napkin into your neckline first, otherwise you are definitely in the repulsive category.

bumbleclat · 25/09/2016 19:08

I think it's rude too..

MissHooliesCardigan · 25/09/2016 19:09

hazey and MrsDV I have slightly over indulged on the Chardonnay but I love both of you and you are my best mates Smile

sandbagsatdawn · 25/09/2016 19:09

Cheby that is total nonsense I'm afraid, supermarkets have a massive margin in expectation of shoplifting. And if the person in question us buying £100 worth of shopping, the security guard is hardly going to lose sleep over whether they pay for a packet of biscuits. (I'm not saying they shouldn't pay, but if someone's buying a trolleyful they are hardly likely to steal the biscuits). They are more likely watching the person who walks in with a large bag and heads straight for the spirits to pocket a few litres of vodka.

MissHooliesCardigan · 25/09/2016 19:12

Btw, I drank the Chardonnay at home and not in Sainsburys so nobody needs to feel disgusted, repulsed, nauseous etc.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 25/09/2016 19:13
