standing in the queue, waiting for a nice easy 30 second transaction to pay for a nice easy bottle of water or can of diet coke - and it takes absolutely ages because every fucker in front of you is ordering their tall skinny half fat decaf extra double shot latte with soya milk and hazelnut foam or whatever the fuck they want...

plus tea and coffee both taste disgusting, so why would anyone want to queue for ages for them anyway?

argh!

Then don't go to a place that serves tea and coffee Hmm
I used to dislike serving people with bottled drinks.
I preferred making hot drinks.

Lizaveta · 22/09/2016 15:48

The coffee machine in little cafe very slow compared to place like Starbucks. They maybe need more staff in this place you go.

80sWaistcoat · 22/09/2016 15:52

YANBU - I'm a tea drinker - tea bag in - hot water in - done.

Invariably in the queue behind 3 flat whites, a cappucino and a mocha frappy cino.

I just want to say - 'let me go first' - I'll be so quick!

LurkingHusband · 22/09/2016 15:52

Just to be controversial, maybe the people feeling aggrieved at the delays in getting their beverages are not the people the shop is aimed at ?

Given the eye-watering price of all products in these places, I would humbly suggest that you are actually buying an experience rather than a drink.

Or that's how Don Draper would have explained it Grin.

scarednoob · 22/09/2016 15:54

to be fair I am mostly ranting about a 20 min wait in our staff restaurant, rather than actual coffee shops. I have no idea why they had to bring in a fancy barista style thing here, but they did. and now everyone is buzzing around with their caffeine eyes and stinky breath. bah.

omg who mentioned the cinema? that gives me the massive massive rage. seriously, how can it take so long to shove some popcorn in a box and charge (£100) for it? HOW?????????

OP posts:
ShatnersBassoon · 22/09/2016 15:55

Why would you go in a café to buy a bottled drink? Get one in a shop where it's much quicker and cheaper. Stop cluttering up the place for those happy to wait for a delicious hot drink Wink

ShatnersBassoon · 22/09/2016 15:56

At work, make sure you have the correct change and leave it on the till. They'll recognise you so won't think it's weird.

MidniteScribbler · 22/09/2016 16:03

The Macca's here now let's the coffee crowd to go through drive-thru. So those of us that just want our McMuffin have to wait for the twerps that want their cafe au freaking latte with a half twist in the pike position, or whatever the coffee drinkers seem to want to order. So much for fast food.

Bumplovin · 22/09/2016 16:04

Most people go to cafes to have a nice hot drink why should they stop that because you don't like queues? If it bothers you that you only want to pay for water why don't you take a water bottle?

LurkingHusband · 22/09/2016 16:04

I wonder if drive-thru Costas do burgers in the store Hmm

PickAChew · 22/09/2016 16:16

YABVU.

Grab a bottle of water from greggs or a supermarket, if you're thirsty and save yourself the frothing and a fair bit of money.

LivingOnTheDancefloor · 22/09/2016 16:21

So after the "should we ban chewing gum" thread now we have this one about banning coffee... what is wrong with people today, everything you personally don't want should be banned so it doesn't inconvenience you...
Hmm

miaowmix · 22/09/2016 16:25

Singularly charmless OP, not sure if that was an attempt at humour, or perhaps you're just grumpy because you need a decent coffee?

"I hate tea and coffee so let's like ban it from coffee shops, yeah?".

Umm, no. Hmm.

Alternatively, I hate baked beans. Let's ban them. And mayo.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/09/2016 16:30

I spent a week in Majorca a couple of years ago, and there wasn't a Costa or Starbucks to be seen anywhere. Instead, there were stacks of cafes where a waiter would bring you a very nice cup of proper coffee for about 2 Euros.
No queueing! Heaven.
But then I only like straight coffee - you can keep your skinny hazelnut lattes and all the other concoctions they spend so long faffing around with.

Oysterbabe · 22/09/2016 16:31

I'd sell my soul for a gingerbread latte about now.

Huppopapa · 22/09/2016 16:33

Any chance of banning all other customers from any retail outlet I enter in a hurry, while we are about it?
HmmWink

Brew
Yorkieheaven · 22/09/2016 16:44

What fucks me off are groups of usually elderly ladies who descend on a busy pub and all order coffee or tea, individually Angry and the spend ages arguing about who is paying.

'My treat, no put your purse away my treat'

When I want my wine. It's a fucking pub. Go to a bloody garden centre.

DinosaursRoar · 22/09/2016 16:48

Why are you buying bottled water as a regular thing? Surely no one has regularly bought bottled water since the early 00s? Doesn't everyone carry one of a range of fancy pants bottles that they refill from a tap, and just buy bottled water on the very rare occasion they have forgotten or drunk it all already.

You can get ones with filters in them too if you are one of those weirdos people who think that tap water for some reason isn't drinkable.

scarednoob · 22/09/2016 16:54

I always buy bottled water because the tap water in London is so gross. When we go up north it's fine!

OP posts:
DinosaursRoar · 22/09/2016 16:57

You need one of these

seasidesally · 22/09/2016 16:58

Waitrose coffee drinkers do my nut

the machine is at the very front to a major pain in getting trolley/basket as the que is by them

hoards of pensioners that have to get their freebie and then walk round the shop with it oblivious to spilling it and being a bloody hazard (i include all waitrose coffee drinkers in that)

now thats dangerous and annoying

Sparklingbrook · 22/09/2016 17:00

On no OP you missed lighthearted from your title. Shock Grin

But for a bottle of water/can of pop you don't want to be paying ££s in rip off coffee shops. Poundland is the way to go.

I don't get the obsession with wandering about with a coffee though.

DavidPuddy · 22/09/2016 17:34

I actually thought it was clear from the title that the OP was talking about a work canteen rather than a Costa, etc.

That said, I would go on strike if anyone banned easy access to coffee at work.
