I thought the woo thread is about courting, until I read the thread and realised it's about woo as in ghosts!

Isn't it yes yes? Hmm

MythicalChicken · 19/09/2016 16:01

Apparently not, looby. That's what I thought but somebody upthread said it's not true...

With regards to YY, I thought it was emphatic, when it actually just means 'yes' (then why not write 'yes'?!).

Ok, it's subtle.

Sorry to ask but what do they mean? I get so confused, need to write a list with them all on

Does the biscuit signify No Comment as MNers kept asking web chat guests what their favourite biscuit was and someone (Gordon Brown??) refused to answer?

Report
surlin · 19/09/2016 16:10

Am larfing at Let Things Be

Love the double penetration! Grin

I always thought YY meant ardent agreement too.

IYSWIM = if you see what I mean

Biscuit = no comment, due to the Gordon Brown interview. It is the equivalent of saying 'I'm saying nothing' or 'you're being a dick' or 'I think you're a troll'

Let Things Be

Now that would completely alter the meaning of mumsnet

Just learnt about how awesome Maui would be for a wedding...But have had to Cancel the Cheque and LTB because some woman called Mary texted him. Who is Mary?

:D

The confusion wrt the meaning/origin of the biscuit is making me feel old now. It was indeed Gordon Brown refusing to say what his favourite biscuit was during a NM chat.

Lweji · 19/09/2016 17:06

NM is simply not an acceptable typo.

Your wrong is less bad.

I thought TIA was This Is Awful.

PBP - pretty boring person.

AF - Adult fun (sex)

Report
puffylovett · 19/09/2016 18:12

Haha belgina me too.

I always view the biscuit emoticon as a mumsnet version of that 'staring down your nose like there's shit under it with cats bum lips' look

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 19/09/2016 18:15

I thought the biscuits were lemons

I thought it was an arsehole.

Report
kaitlinktm · 19/09/2016 18:44

I thought the biscuit came from this:

(From the Cambridge dictionary)

You say that something or someone (really) takes the biscuit when it or they have done something that you find extremely annoying or surprising
And you say she's opening your letters now? Oh, that really takes the biscuit

Am I overthinking it?

Report
puffylovett · 19/09/2016 19:03

Yes, it's to do with the utter disdain mumsnet gets felt when Gordon brown refused to reveal his favourite biccyGrin

Report
puffylovett · 19/09/2016 19:03

Agh iPhone!! Mumsnetters not mumsnet gets!

I always thought the Biscuit was a tit as in "you're being a tit". Even now I know it's a biscuit I still think 'tit'

I'm still not sure whether Pom Bears are an acceptable foodstuff or not

Report
Lweji · 19/09/2016 20:02

They are. But only for dinner and when you have guests.

Report
CoolToned · 19/09/2016 21:31

So LTB doesn't mean Let Things Be? So this was why I found some posts conflicting!

POAS - had no idea what this meant!

AF - I thought this meant 'Any Fucker' as one of MN users has this user name Blush

It's not a MN specific term, but I thought twerking, which I only saw written here, was another term for tweeting.
Until one initially baffling, then eye-opening, thread.

LTB - LEAVE THE BASTARD

or

if you're a man/lesbian

LEAVE THE BITCH

I thought STBXH was "shitbox". Whatever one of those may be.
