Aibu to ask for my newborn shoot to be edited?

I had a newborn shoot done the other day, images are great and I love them all apart from the full length naked pic I want to use my little one has brown scab and placenta clip still on. My partner wants to use this image to blow up into large framed pic but also hates the cord. My photographer says he won't remove it with photoshop as it symbolises how small my baby is but it's horrible and ruins the photo.

The shoot wasn't exactly cheap and cost £250 so Aibu to go back and ask again??

Photoshopping a newborn? Can't get my head around that at all.

Cisoff · 19/09/2016 06:08

She's not photoshopping a newborn. She's removing a scab and a clip that aren't part of the newborn's body.

It's not like she's fixing his squishy nose.

Can you upload the pic OP so we can look? It's hard to comment on retouching possibilities without viewing the image.

TheDowagerCuntess · 19/09/2016 06:32

Amazed that people think photoshopping out a clip is a). so outrageous, and b). so difficult. Confused

EveOnline2016 · 19/09/2016 06:32

Where does the OP say she wants it done for free

mouldycheesefan · 19/09/2016 06:46

Next baby, wait till it falls off or discuss with photographer at the time.

Wow, some people are being really rude. YANBU OP. In fact I don't think it should have got to this point in the first place. It's not rocket science that a big yellow plastic clip will spoil a photo and a decent photographer would have dealt with it in the first place. He could have taken it so a leg or hand obscured it or hidden it with part of the blankets.

His reason is also rude, he's imposing his taste on it rather than listening to what you as the customer want. And saying that he might not have the skills to do it or is inexperienced doesn't excuse him either - it just means that he doesn't have the right skills to do his job to a high standard.

TellAStory · 19/09/2016 08:11

I'm sorry but YABU - you paid for a newborn shoot to include naked pictures and that is what the photographer has provided. It doesn't sound as though you are unhappy with the photos just that you don't like the one showing the cord........what did you expect? Unless the photographer agreed to photoshop the cord out before the shoot he is not being unreasonable and you got what you paid for!

Kmoggy · 22/09/2016 11:19

I have never once said I want this for free or expected it! All I asked was it unreasonable to go bk and ask again for it to be removed as the shoot itself was expensive, so was wondering if this was a service others would think was fair. I have no issues paying an extra fee if it's such a huge job but the photographer actually owed me money bk ( as I over paid ) so hence why I hadn't offered at the time of writing this post.
Anyway it's fixed now and yes an extra fee was agreed!

Of course it's fixed - amazed at the people who think photoshopping out a clip requires magician levels of sorcery.

I haven't got the first clue how to do it, but come on, this is low level stuff.

myownprivateidaho · 22/09/2016 19:07

Yeah, what you're asking him to do is quite a lot of work that he might not feel confident enough to do or be qualified to do. He's perfectly at liberty to decline to do something he didn't agree to. I don't think that making alterations like this comes under "retouching". Sorry.

myownprivateidaho · 22/09/2016 19:07

Ah sorry, didn't see your last post. Glad it's fixed!

Thingiebob · 30/09/2016 10:49

dowager could you do it?

user1474627704 · 30/09/2016 10:53

What does it matter if anyone here thinks it was fair? You have a contract with a professional for a service. Does it cover editing and photoshop? If not, they don't have to do a thing.
You got the service you paid for. You have asked and been told no. End of story.

Thingiebob · 30/09/2016 11:00

Dowager it isn't 'low-level stuff' I've had a lot of training On order to use complex sophisticated editing software. It's harder than you think to get a seamless edit. You would be paying for my expertise, not how 'easy' you seem to think it is.
