To be scared of a thunderstorm

Down in the north west we've got a very heavy and loud thunderstorm.. But it's literally the first one in my whole life I've ever been on my own through and I'm shaking ..
Sky has gone down and I can't get a signal for the digital tv either so I'm sat in silence.. Can all you lovely people give me a distraction please?

North West here too, DP and kids were standing at the door watching it, I was shitting it in the kitchen.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/09/2016 19:59

Bah, nothing in London! I love a good thunderstorm.

MummaGiles · 13/09/2016 20:00

I LOVE storms and apparently it is biblical at home but I am stuck on a train back from London. DH told me DS (20months) was standing at the front door excitedly shouting at the storm. Gutted I've missed that.

digestivemuncher · 13/09/2016 20:00

Yeah but it's happening every 2 minutes now WinkGrinGrin
This has been the highlight of my week by far lmao

wowfudge · 13/09/2016 20:02

I've just driven over the tops in it from Cheshire to Derbyshire. Very unpleasant. Lots of flash flooding and at one stage a driver in front was going so slowly I was worried we'd never get out of it. Home to resetting everything after a power cut and the mobile phone signal is out too. Thankfully landline and broadband okay.

jesterkat · 13/09/2016 20:02

Oooooooo now we're getting a load of thunder and lightning now. Yay. Love a good storm

SeasonalVag · 13/09/2016 20:17

That's an amazing website, having the best fun watching it and urging to Liverpool....

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 13/09/2016 20:19

YANBU. I'm shit scared of thunderstorms. We've had them all afternoon and evening :(

DerekSprechenZeDick · 13/09/2016 20:19

In West Yorkshire and I can't hear my film over it. I'm in the attic

TwoLittleBlooms · 13/09/2016 20:21

NW here too, we have thunder and lightening and rain - but wouldn't say it is epic (a bit disappointed as I love a good thunderstorm). I am hoping we don't have any flooding though - seems to be a worry when ever the rain is constant now (we had bad floods last year).

AgadorSpartacus · 13/09/2016 20:23

In Bolton sat in the car waiting for DS to finish dance and to be frank i'm shitting it.

God he'd better hurry up!

BIWI · 13/09/2016 20:23

Oh Envy love a good storm. But nothing down in Sarf Lunnun.

OP - what are you frightened of? Can we help you?

DoorMat1010 · 13/09/2016 20:23

Come round to mine. I'm in Preston. We love s good thunderstorm here.

It's incredible to watch.

If you're scared by the noise, try ear plugs or ear phones with relaxing music.

milkyface · 13/09/2016 20:24

I'm in West Yorkshire. Lightening is mad! Admittedly I am shit scared so no YANBU!

scarletmonkey · 13/09/2016 20:25

West Yorkshire here, and while I understand those who don't like, I'm bloody loving this!
It's the best storm I've ever seen, sadly its moved over Leeds way now.

SpookyPotato · 13/09/2016 20:26

I love storms, I find them exciting and love watching them and hearing the thunder. It makes me feel alive somehow! Plus it breaks up the heat a bit. The sky was a lovely moody purple earlier 💜

SpookyPotato · 13/09/2016 20:27

West Yorkshire here too, the hills are alive! Grin

stubbornstains · 13/09/2016 20:29

Look at my FUCKING GARDEN!!!! Sad (Cornwall). DS greatly distressed to see his bike submerged. I told him WD40 would sort it out. Hope I'm right....

The dustbin is floating....it sailed about ten feet. It was being crewed by an alarmed looking snail.

Stubborn that's awful we don't have that much rain at the minute.
