I'm not, am I?

If you don't know what dh/ds/dd means, browse a bit and read a bit until you do.

If you don't know how to add smileys or links, explore a bit further on the site, until you do.

If you think everyone is horrible - go back to wherever you bloody came from!

Lots of people ask about the acronyms and most people are only too happy to explain.

It's the fucking whinging, whining, moaners that are getting on a lot of people's tits.

FithColumnist · 11/09/2016 23:12

I had to look up DTS the other day. I thought I knew all of the acronyms Blush

MetallicBeige · 11/09/2016 23:14

I'm not new, but when I see DCat and DDog I want to throw things. Just, why?

fastdaytears · 11/09/2016 23:14

The acronyms are mostly pretty obvious and far from unique to MN so whinging about them is ridiculous IMO.

The complaints about "bullying" and swearing are so annoying. Especially as they usually contact something along the lines of "we're all mothers here we have a responsibility blah blah blah" ignoring the posters with virgin wombs or no wombs at all...

emotionsecho · 11/09/2016 23:15

You are not BU, bibbity every single thread I click on at the moment at least three posters ask "What's so and so mean?" and lo and behold a couple of pages later another three ask the same question, so clearly have not read the full thread. Most of the acronyms are pretty obvious and reading the thread properly will give enough clues to work them out.

I've lost count of the 'People are so mean and nasty' threads on here lately, there must be one a day - what are they meant to achieve? If you don't like it, leave and stop judging the whole of MN by AIBU it is so much more than that.

KittensWithWeapons · 11/09/2016 23:16

Exactly, Worra. Imagine walking into a pub and saying to everyone there 'I don't like how you're talking and what you're saying, and now that I've been here 5 minutes, I demand that you change how you converse, and do it in a way decided by me, because my way is so much better'. That would be a touch arrogant, wouldn't it?

Cagliostro · 11/09/2016 23:16

I taught a non-MNing friend FOTTFSOFAWYGTFOSM the other week. She was most amused (it really did fit with the conversation we were having) - just waiting to see if she ever uses it herself now :o

hotdiggedy · 11/09/2016 23:17

I think you are being a bit unreasonable actually. It seems a bit 'us' and 'them', we don't like outsiders and their funny ways. I'm sure there's plenty oldies who aren't au fait with every abbreviations and might not like swearing too (shock, horror). Why can't 'newbies' voice their opinions?

MetallicBeige · 11/09/2016 23:19

What is going on with thread deletions lately? Threads are deleted left, right and centre 'for confidentiality' or whatever...
Not so long ago if you got a roasting, or were disagreed with, it stood, forever Wink (or 30 days). Now people run to HQ crying and they pull it.

BIWI · 11/09/2016 23:20

Of course newbies can voice their opinions Hmm

But it's tedious when all they do is join, and then come on and moan. And often about things they haven't bothered to read anyway.

WorraLiberty · 11/09/2016 23:20

Kittens if they did that in the pubs around here, they've end up on the 10 O' Clock News Grin

Boogers · 11/09/2016 23:21

Fith what is DTS? Blush

I'll admit I didn't find the acronyms list for a long while and thought a TAAT was a 'tired and angry thread' where someone had had a bit too much wine and was getting lairy on a thread. Some threads would actually fit that though!

DonkeyOaty · 11/09/2016 23:22

Yanbu Bibbers me old mucker

I am veh veh patient and try to be kind and polite but sometimes yup I want to fork me fingers and pop them in the eye or maybe stab the back of their hands with my compass point shouting STOP MOANING WE'RE MOSTLY EVER SO REASONABLE

fastdaytears · 11/09/2016 23:22

Yes Boogers that works both ways!

LyndaNotLinda · 11/09/2016 23:22

I always think forums are like local pubs. Everyone knows everyone else and you've developed a way of speaking. If you want to be accepted as a new member of the community, you don't barge in and complain about the language or the way people are dressed or join in at the very end of a conversation and tell someone they should do something they'd already discarded as unworkable 30 minutes before you got there

PovertyPain · 11/09/2016 23:22

So proud that I understand FOTTFS...... [smug]

Does that mean I'm becoming an oldie or is 3 1/2 yrs not long enough? Confused thinks about old job and how long before considered old staff Bollocks, I'm not. Sad

CafeCremeEtCroissant · 11/09/2016 23:23

Because if you don't like it, find somewhere you do like... Don't try to change the other eleventy thousand people!

DonaldStott · 11/09/2016 23:24

I am a regular, but nc'd after basically outing myself. I am still quite new. Been on mn a couple of years, but I have to agree OP. I am so sick of people coming on aibu and newbies saying 'everyone on aibu are mean' or the standard 'I thought this was meant to be women supporting each other'. No. If you say something that makes you sound like a twat, you will get a reality check. Which imho, is what aibu is actually for!

ClopySow · 11/09/2016 23:24

I've been here for a few years now. It still horrifies me how fucking vile (mostly) women on here are to each other.

And DTS confused me too. I figured it out eventually to be dear/darling twin sons, but was considering dear transexual at one point.

ghostyslovesheep · 11/09/2016 23:27

Yabu and do you know what I hate

People who ONLY ever post shit like 'get this moved him -Aibu is a horrible place full of cunts'

No it's not and it can be supportive and kind it just doesn't tolerate fools very well

ghostyslovesheep · 11/09/2016 23:28

Hun not him - even my phone hates huns!

TopazRocks · 11/09/2016 23:28

My DH doesn't like me swearing - and I don't want to set a bad example to the DC, and my late DM, DF and MIL would be birling in their urns if they could hear me. SO MN is the only place I can fecking use the odd sweary word. Grin

KittensWithWeapons · 11/09/2016 23:28

Yes exactly BIWI. New posters voicing opinions, grand. New posters moaning about how mean and awful and horrible and nasty it is here, well that's bloody annoying.

Worra, I worked in a pub like that back in my yoof. The number of times I flung myself bodily into the middle of a digging match Grin. Was a great place to work though, used to finish at 7pm on a Sunday and only leave at 3am, after staying for a beverage or 9 Grin.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 11/09/2016 23:30

I love newbies, newbies I love

It's just moaning newbies that are getting on my tits! Leave the whingeing and mithering to us oldies who have fekking years on Mumnet to complain about!
