To quite like the Kardashians?

I used to hate them and everything they stood for, until I watched an episode of KUWTK (it was on in the airport lounge) and now I am obsessed!

Any other converts or AIBU?

I am fond of Scott and wish someone would make Khloe happy...she seems to spend a lot of time trying to look after other people.

mayoress · 10/09/2016 01:43

Yes she made a sex tape- so have countless other people. Paris, Katie Price and others have done worse things.
The thing is- they have NEVER been seen falling out of clubs drunk, never been seen doing drugs and whatever they've earned they've been clever at doing it.
Why hate on them- just for a sex tape- get over it.

MidniteScribbler · 10/09/2016 02:16

They just don't interest me at all. Neither do any Housewives from anywhere. I lived in LA years ago and saw enough of that type of person that it doesn't appeal to me anymore. And it's all just so much same old, same old. Surely we can come up with something more interesting to put on television?

mayoress · 10/09/2016 02:37

MidniteScribbler What do you suggest we put on TV? any ideas?

TheHorseWhisperer · 10/09/2016 02:40

I like the fact that Kim is pretty honest about just wanting to be rich and famous and not being particularly talented at anything. Fairy play, I say.

OlennasWimple · 10/09/2016 02:44

I rather like it too, though DH refuses to watch them. The episode where Khloe gave Kim a bikini wax kinda illustrated how close the sisters are (except when they hate each other because one of them was supposed to re-design the house, or didn't get excited enough about a magazine cover or didn't coo sufficiently over their baby....)

mayoress · 10/09/2016 02:46

I think that's the point Midnite, they just lay it out there and don't pretend to be anything else other that what they are.
I also think the people who profess a dislike for the Kardashians are ''secretly'' intrigued by them.

MurphyDog5 · 10/09/2016 03:30

Like you, I hated them until I watched an episode & now I'm totally obsessed. Don't get me wrong, they're all horrible people but there's just something about them. But to be honest KUWTK is the level of tv I have the concentration span to keep up with since dd arrived.

MidniteScribbler · 10/09/2016 06:22

What do you suggest we put on TV? any ideas?

Some good quality drama or comedy would be a good start. Not lazy programming of finding not very interesting people and following them around.

I also think the people who profess a dislike for the Kardashians are ''secretly'' intrigued by them.

Well seeing as most of us are grown adults and can choose what to watch on tv, then I don't think anyone needs to be secretly intrigued by them. If I wanted to watch them, I would, but they hold no interest to me. Why are some people so baffled when others aren't interested in the private lives of wannabe celebrities?

LaurieMarlow · 10/09/2016 11:30

Their tv show is very popular midnite, so why would TV execs look a gift horse in the mouth? Confused

Perhaps in an ideal world, viewers would have more high faluting tastes, but they don't. From the network's pov it's gold.

PikachuSayBoo · 10/09/2016 11:39

I like the show, it's quite entertaining.

I don't have anything against them as people. They've seized their moment and they all seem to work hard, whether it's photo shoots, clothing design or nightclub appearances (which must be tedious as hell). They seem a close, supportive family. Kendall looks amazing. Kylie has her head screwed on with her makeup range. I worry about Rob.

WanderingNotLost · 10/09/2016 13:20

I pretty much agree with what RortyCrankle said. Absolutely cannot stand them. I feel quite sorry for the youngest one though and think it's beyond shameful that Kris allowed her to grow up with such a complex about her looks and body that she started having surgery the second she turned 18.

MissMoo22 · 10/09/2016 13:43

I used to watch it but it all became too samey and not as 'real' as it was when it began. I would absolutely love to know their real lives though. What goes into the contracts their significant others and staff have to sign? What are those conversations which go on in secret about what storylines they will do next?

Kim is the most boring, selfish person on the planet though. I hate that she is the cause for their fame instead of one of others who have a personality (Kourt and Khloe) and who wouldn't lord it over the others so much. And Kim had better watch out for Kylie, she's the one the teenyboppers are idolising and her make up range is insanely popular. If she would stop with the plastic surgery and woeful boyfriends then Kylie could be the one left standing when the fame dries up for Kim (which has to be soon, what else can she do now? She's too old for the younger generation now).

Clickclickclick · 10/09/2016 14:00

I love it. Have for about three years now.

I agree that the newer episodes are a bit less real because they're a bit more famous than they used to be. But I love how they're such a nice family and love each other. My family hate each other and try to bring each other down, so I am fascinated to see supportive sisters enjoy spending time together.

Kourtney and Kendall are my faves. Khloe used to be my favourite but she seems quite narcissistic lately. It could be all a defence though, as she has went through a really shit time with Lamar. Kylie also gets on my nerves with the constant selfies.

I quite like Kim and Kanye. They're entertaining. Kris is a great business woman. They all are really! Caitlin really gets on my nerves though. Maybe that's just because I know she's a republican.

And obviously, I love the Lord! He used to be a giant asshat, but he's grown up a lot.

nancyblackett80 · 10/09/2016 16:57

I actually like the fact that Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were really not nice to Kim and quite sneery - she's significantly got more kudos than either of them now.

Although don't see what she see's in Kanye West, he's pretty revolting as human beings go.

mayoress · 10/09/2016 18:06

Clickclickclick you and me both.

The Kardashians are a reality phenomenon, like it or not. What they've generated for that Chanel is just unbelieavable. The Gatinues started it all and they lasted just 2 seasons- and then the Kardashians came on with same concept- and look what happened.
I say 'good for them', they have NOT harmed any one.
I like them because they have no airs or graces.

MidniteScribbler · 10/09/2016 23:07

Their tv show is very popular midnite, so why would TV execs look a gift horse in the mouth?

That's fine, but I'm not forced to watch it. Don't start the crap about people who secretly love them.

I didn't like Sex and the City either. Can't stand Offspring. I'm also not a Trekkie. Believe it or not, people can actually like different things. It's what makes the world interesting.

DelicatePreciousThing1 · 10/09/2016 23:09

Ghastly people.

Crunchymum · 11/09/2016 00:35

Kris is basically a pimp?

LaurieMarlow · 11/09/2016 10:33

Midnite, you suggested up thread that we put something 'more interesting' on TV.

That's your definition of 'more interesting' not the general populace's. So while I support your desire for more comedy and drama, no network exec in their right mind would mess with a highly popular, cost effective formula like the one the kardashians supply.

It's obvious that people like different things, I don't think you needed to point that out Wink but when a format is popular with a lot of people, the powers that be tend to follow the money.

feminazi · 27/09/2016 19:51

Omg! Rob posted Kylie's REAL phone number on Twitter last night!

Is he crazy? Dosent he remember that she has a dangerous stalker?!? Angry

KourtneyKardashian · 27/09/2016 22:24

I saw this too 😱 I'd be furious with my DB if he did that!

UterusUterusGhali · 27/09/2016 22:31

I was exposed to it a few weeks ago when I walked into a room where DD was watching.

I found myself watching, scathingly, for a few minutes. Then I was sat down asking who everyone was. I recently found myself stopping on it when I was channel hopping.

I fear it's got me in its thrall, too. :(

Save yourselves, YABUers. Before you find yourself giving a fuck about Chyna's emojis. :'(

Champagneformyrealfriends · 27/09/2016 22:33

Yanbu. Love all of them. Rob can fuck off though.

Champagneformyrealfriends · 27/09/2016 22:35

Uterus shhhhhhh, it's ok.

We all like something shit sometimes. It's a shameful but harmless addiction.
