To Think This Is Too Harsh?

I came across an article this morning about a woman who has been sentenced to 5 years for using a parent and child parking space without a child. I hate when people do this, car parks are a nightmare when you have kids especially when you have to park quite a bit away from the shop. It is infuriating, but is 5 years in jail away from her children not a bit much? Considering theres peadophiles and rapists out there that get far less.
Not going to lie I got a giggle at the end end of the article - A 64-year-old man was arrested at Southend Waitrose for using a Parent and Child space with his 41-year-old son.

A fellow shopper said: ‘I can’t see how this will ever be progressed through the Crown Prosecution Service. None of the signs stipulate a minimum age.’

I think we need a link since P+C space are not a legal thing I fail to see how anyone can be sent to prison for using one

ABloodyDifficultWoman · 07/09/2016 12:55

Do you have a link to the article?

DerekSprechenZeDick · 07/09/2016 12:55

You don't get jailed for that ffs Grin

You been reading a joke paper? Grin

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/09/2016 12:55

I saw this and thought it was a joke. It has to be, surely? There isn't the money there for this when actual criminals don't always go to jail. Got to be a hoax
who wrote the story?

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/09/2016 12:56

I think is from one of those online spoof papers similar to Daily Mash

Quimby · 07/09/2016 12:56

Hmmm

To Think This Is Too Harsh?
ghostyslovesheep · 07/09/2016 12:56

hahaha it has to be a joke!

EveOnline2016 · 07/09/2016 12:56

Can you link the article.

PotOfYoghurt · 07/09/2016 12:57

Been reading The Onion again huh?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/09/2016 12:57

There is a spoof news site for Southend - I suspect you must have been reading that, Vulty. Don't be embarrassed though - I got caught out by it once - something about the council removing the A13. Blush

ABloodyDifficultWoman · 07/09/2016 12:57

Oh it's a joke

Funny. Hmm

MrsJoeyMaynard · 07/09/2016 12:58

I can't believe this happened in the UK unless there's a whole lot more to the story.

The only way I can imagine someone being jailed over parking in a P+C space would be if they'd deliberately parked on top of someone or assaulted someone who'd challenged them parking there.

AtSea1979 · 07/09/2016 12:59

Asda put a max age (12). I'm not posh enough to shop at waitrose.

ghostyslovesheep · 07/09/2016 12:59

I'd be a bit embarrassed to be honest - surely everyone knows that P+C spaces aren't protected by law Grin

CrownofStars · 07/09/2016 13:01

It's a spoof site.
Someone on my Facebook feed is getting all aerated about another one of their articles and will not belive that it's not real!

ToxicLadybird · 07/09/2016 13:02

Did you believe the article OP?

Vulty · 07/09/2016 13:07

Hahaha omg can't believe I fell for that I've been thinking about it all morning! Least we got a giggle!

I'm a bit worried about you now OP.. How did it not occur to you that that could not possibly be true?! Grin

Bailey101 · 07/09/2016 13:12

I've got a friend who keeps posting links to the daily mash on Facebook and getting all outraged and indignant about them - she's always suitably embarrassed when it's pointed out that it's a spoof newspaper, and then a few weeks later she's at it again 😂

Soubriquet · 07/09/2016 13:13

You might not go to jail but our local sainsburys are not fining people £150 if they use a p and c space with no under 12's

Vulty · 07/09/2016 13:25

Dunno if I should be mortified or to laugh

OP posts:
Vulty · 07/09/2016 13:26

or laugh*

OP posts:
MLGs · 07/09/2016 13:32

You may as well laugh OP, but it isn't really very believable!

I think it's poking fun and the number of people who think and empty car seat justifies the use of the space.

I'm really surprised that some places are putting a max age of 12 on them. I thought they were for people with under 5s (special needs, health conditions excluded of course). I can't imagine thinking I needed one - or ever using one - when I'm with my healthy 7 year old, but I find them very useful when I have my toddler.

CafeCremeEtCroissant · 07/09/2016 13:34

Be mortified you muppet 😁

At least TRY to employ a LITTLE common sense when reading shite online 😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for the laugh though 🍾🍫
