Knife blocks. Tell me to woman up

We need new knives as I do loads of cooking and we have a rag tag selection of broken and cheap bendy ones.
I've been on Amazon looking at knives and knife blocks.
I can't get beyond thinking of murder mystery and horror films where a character notices a knife is missing from the knife block.
I am being very silly aren't I?

If they've broken in to kill me I think they'll have brought their own weapon

Borrowing a knife really would add insult to injury.

I don't even like having knives in the house. I make do with two small veggie knives!

I have a phobia of blood so knives make me squeamish. I know exactly where all my (3) sharp knives are at all times. (they're high up on a shelf in an ikea bucket hung on those cute kitchen hooks they have. Blade down!)

PIL moan when they come because they're crap but I don't care.

Knife blocks have always unnerved me, the slicing in of the knife would make me shiver every time. (and the sound...Shock)

Thank you for your replies everyone.
Last night i watched "The Night Of..." whilst reading the thread. I'm now on Amazon looking for a nice set of small knives that will fit in my drawer.

If nothing else, this thread has reassured me that I'm not the only one who is totally paranoid about having knives on display. I'm feeling almost normal Smile

Errr, if you are or are living with a person who is likely to grab a knife in anger, I'd say a knife block is the least of your worries!! Hmm

Inspired by this thread, I've discovered that there is such a thing as an in-drawer knife block that has slots for knives. Who knew!

I have measured the sections in my drawer and will be ordering one. Thanks OP. Smile
