AIBU to be thinking of booking summer 2017 holiday now?

We had a great holiday this year and it was fantastic value, 2 weeks in an apartment in the Italian lakes with wonderful views on a small private complex with a big swimming pool. It was one of the most relaxing holidays we've had, I enjoyed cooking and we had some lovely meals on the terrace, we played card games, watched films and the kids had a ball in the pool. We had a car for the duration and did a bit of sightseeing but it was very relaxed, one dc has autism and learning difficulties so we have to pace ourselves by what they can cope with.
I'm seriously considering rebooking now but I've never gone back to the same place before! Nothing can touch it value wise - flights, car hire, insurance and accommodation came in at under £2000 in total for the family for 2 weeks in August!!!
Flights are on sale now at a good price with BA and the owner offered us a discount if we go back and book direct with him - I just feel really odd booking this early!!!!
Talk some sense into me!

I've booked my 2017 holiday already. It's in te UK but we had great tme this summer with my 16 month old and she'll love it just as much next year us we'll have a second dc by then so it's nice to have a plan in place which I know is easy for kids and dogs.

Do it! Sounds good. There's something really exciting about knowing what you're looking forward to, I.e. a familiar place where you've had a great time before.

When we booked our summer holiday this year 15 months ago, I couldn't get our first-choice cottage because it was already booked! So there's no harm in booking early. DH's family go to the same place in Devon each year and they book the next year's holiday more than a year in advance.

I used to not want to holiday twice in the same location, but there's a lot to be said for going somewhere familiar with children; you know it will be good, and it helps to be familiar with the location and know your way around a bit.

Can I ask where it was? DH has often talked about going to the Italian lakes so may bear it in mind for future years, although I appear to be the only one in the family who likes going on holiday!

We had this year's holiday already booked by this time last year.JFDI.

Also had the hire car booked, the others that booked a car paid twice as much.

£2000 is hardly a budget holiday!! but yes if you can afford it and you loved it it seems mad not to.

I didn't say it was a budget holiday - I said it was amazing value, which I think it is for 2 weeks in peak season.

I've just had an email back from the owner and it's available for our first choice of date so I've booked it!!!!!

Book it, take out travel insurance!

We booked ours yesterday! I wondered if it was too soon, but there is more choice and we got 14% off and £50 early booking code. Definitely book it and you've got something to look forward to on a miserable Autumn day.

Insurance is sorted as we have an annual policy already in place.
Good advice though, too many people leave it until it's too late.

YANBU and neither am I.... I need to just ask the place a question tomorrow and will then be booking got summer 2017. It does save money to book ahead, go for it and you'll have something lovely to be looking forward to. You might save enough money to throw in a city break somewhere at some stage, too.

We booked next year's the day after we got back from this year. We self cater UK and we wanted a specific place we stayed in a couple of years back but it books up really quickly. The week we wanted was available so we booked it. June-September is fully booked.

I have just booked Easter week as well. Again a specific place that we go to every couple of years.

Definitely a good idea to book ahead.

In fact on the 16th August I rang to enquire about a family cruise I liked the look of for August 2017 but the travel agent told me that I'd left it too late, as there were too many children age 5-8 who were already booked on it. Apparently I should have booked back in April! Clearly I was being a bit slack only trying to book 12 months ahead...

Ooh, sounds amazing! Now you have booked it and secured your dates, can you share the place details?!

Would also love to know the details, sounds fab!

I'm glad you've got it booked! I've had my 2017 Trip-of-a-lifetime booked for a couple of months now and that's only because I had to wait until the flights were available. Again, I needed to book certain things very early to get my first choice and one of the things I booked I got the last available place...

We're booked flights for July next year. Also booked apartment with a £1 deposit which is fully cancelable if we change our mind. We booked our flights with BA airmiles, but if we hadn't used airmiles we would have booked them in October when they're released by Easyjet.
