AIBU to be thinking of booking summer 2017 holiday now?

We had a great holiday this year and it was fantastic value, 2 weeks in an apartment in the Italian lakes with wonderful views on a small private complex with a big swimming pool. It was one of the most relaxing holidays we've had, I enjoyed cooking and we had some lovely meals on the terrace, we played card games, watched films and the kids had a ball in the pool. We had a car for the duration and did a bit of sightseeing but it was very relaxed, one dc has autism and learning difficulties so we have to pace ourselves by what they can cope with.
I'm seriously considering rebooking now but I've never gone back to the same place before! Nothing can touch it value wise - flights, car hire, insurance and accommodation came in at under £2000 in total for the family for 2 weeks in August!!!
Flights are on sale now at a good price with BA and the owner offered us a discount if we go back and book direct with him - I just feel really odd booking this early!!!!
Talk some sense into me!

The peak booking time for summer holidays starts now, as loads of people come back from their previous holiday and want to have another one to look forward to.
How would you feel if you left it until December and it became fully booked? I'd sort it now.

YANBU your holiday sounds amazing! We travel a lot and I have trips booked up all the way through the rest of the year and into 2017. Aside from being good planning, it gives me so much to look forward to.

There's nothing wrong with going back to the same place. We holidayed at the same place for years when I was a child, had basically a permanent booking. As an adult I've actually purchased a holiday home there which we go to several times per year. I still love my various treks to far flung places, but if I don't get at least a couple of holidays at this place then I just don't feel like I've ever had a break.

You've done the right thing booking it now. I wish we were as organised as you are Envy

We haven't been on our main holiday this year yet but I've been looking at 2017 for a while now. Just can't quite decide where I fancy going.

You definitely seem to get better deals if you book far in advance I find so we will be booking soon.

Sounds lovely and may well do something similar soon! Had honeymoon mainly in Bardolino on Lake Garda.

I love researching holidays but usually have to do it at fairly short notice once I know who is coming and when we can go.

We went to Milan Linate, picked up a hire car and it took about 2 hours to get there, we avoided the motorway as we had plenty of time, it is about half an hour quicker but has tolls. It's a small airport and quick to navigate.

I've booked my ferry to Spain for next August and still couldn't get the dates I wanted as they were already fully booked. Now going at the end not beginning of August - but at least we're going!!

guessing from the prices I've just seen it's Milan as Verona comes in at £1000 plus for 3 of us, where as Milan is £400 ish... Sorry to ask questions, but how long did it take you to drive from Milan?

And, only £2K for 2 weeks for a family in the Med during the summer holidays, at somewhere decent, is a bargin IMO.

I'm going to book a villa next year as soon as I can. Next week hopefully Just need to check a couple of dates first.

If you know what you want it would be madness not to-or other people may book it first.

We booked for August 2017 in February 2016. We went to the same villa last year and it was perfect - we tried to book it for this year whilst actually there in 2015 but it was booked up so we didn't want to miss it again next year.

Do it!

As long as you have booked the time off work you need, it makes sense.

We're booked flights for July next year. Also booked apartment with a £1 deposit which is fully cancelable if we change our mind. We booked our flights with BA airmiles, but if we hadn't used airmiles we would have booked them in October when they're released by Easyjet.

I'm glad you've got it booked! I've had my 2017 Trip-of-a-lifetime booked for a couple of months now and that's only because I had to wait until the flights were available. Again, I needed to book certain things very early to get my first choice and one of the things I booked I got the last available place...
