So neighbours that are blasting music and screaming 'down it'!!And 'Drink'! In a marquee in their garden and getting louder by the minute!
People are actually screaming!! so I'm not being touchy but I have a 3yo ds that keeps waking up and it feels like the party is in my bedroom.

So aibu or are they taking the piss??

Nothing against Bob Marley by the way, but between midnight and 6am he can fuck off Grin

TikTakTok · 03/09/2016 23:20

You can always phone he non emergency police number and ask. We called them at midnight one night as our neighbours were having a loud outdoor party the night before my DCs A level physics exam (so not a weekend night). The police came around ten minutes later to speak to them. I'd only phoned them for advice so I was quite impressed. It depends where you live.

I called around to my neighbours in the morning to explain that I was annoyed that they hadn't even bothered to let me know they were having a party. My mum lives up the road and the kids could have slept there if we had been warned about the noise. I was polite and they were polite but they couldn't really give a shit. I still felt better for telling them 😂

isitseptemberyet · 03/09/2016 23:20

ive called th police on rowdy neighbours many a time over the years, saves u getting a shit thru ur letter box by confronting them urself

lexyjay · 03/09/2016 23:20

I am currently having the exact same problem. There is just no need to play music that loud on a quiet street! I can hear other neighbours asking them to turn it down but of course they wont. I know who their letting agent is though so will put in a complaint in the morning. Is that an option for you?

Catsize · 03/09/2016 23:22

missy, your neighbour played loud music whilst fucking Bob Marley?? eeeewww! (sorry, couldn't resist).
Hope it's got quieter OP. Don't call anyone though. Probably a one-off. Bloody inconsiderate and annoying! Grrrrr

Shakirawannabe · 03/09/2016 23:24

I'm not sure if they own or rent, I've only met them once as their garden back on to my garden and they knocked for a ball their ds kicked over

If anything it would become an issue for environmental health and the noise abatement team take hours to come out. My NDN when I had a flatshare years ago warranted many visits. He quietened down in the end, what with the fatal heroin overdose and all.

Stick it out tonight and if it happens again you have cause to complain.

Maybe this will help?

We still live in the house, the house next door got sold.

Totally feel for you Shakira, lets hope it's a one off, nothing worse than being kept awake by someones noise.

We have had bbqs but have made a point of turning down the noise alot when it gets dark, maybe having kids makes you a bit more understanding.

Rollonbedtime7pm · 04/09/2016 09:37

So I assume when you had to get up really early this morning you were really loud about it? Let the kids scream in the garden, slammed your doors etc?!

Wish I had done this more over the summer to the neighbours who were always choosing to angle grind something when I was putting the baby to bed!

rosesarered9 · 04/09/2016 09:39

It's 101 OP. Grin

Shakirawannabe · 04/09/2016 09:54

It went on till 6am this morning Angry
Bastards.
My house is detached and the end of my garden is attached to their garden so I couldn't bang etc

I did think about accidentally throwing a lit cigarette butt over to set the marquee on fire

If it does turn out to be a regular thing your noise abatement people at your local council will be your best friends. Our neighbour is an absolute animal and throw parties every weekend throughout the summer. Her garden joins ours at the exact point where DS1's bedroom is (she has a weird triangular garden, ours wraps around the back and sides). The neighbours the other side got so cross and got the council involved so she ended up with a modern-day asbo from the police and is now forbidden to make too much noise late at night. She still does, but very occasionally. Worth bearing in mind if it happens often.

inlectorecumbit · 04/09/2016 10:07

Guess they will be sleeping now so get out into your garden and make as much noise as you can..lawnmower, radiom etc.

Or maybe not

GinIsIn · 04/09/2016 10:08

Did you think about popping round, knocking on the door and saying "hello, would it be ok to turn it down a bit please? My child is trying to sleep?" Hmm

notapizzaeater · 04/09/2016 10:11

I'd write it on a calendar so you don't forget the times if you need to get people involved in the future

Shakirawannabe · 04/09/2016 10:14

Fenella as mentioned in the above I didn't want to be known as ^that neighbour.
Most the people in the village are 50+ to be fair so I don't see them putting up with this^

OP posts:
Munstermonchgirl · 04/09/2016 10:14

If it was a full on proper marquee then it's likely to be a one off as they're bloody expensive to hire! Hopefully things will quieten down now summer is ending but monitor things anyway because if this is a regular feature over the summer it's out of order

Shakirawannabe · 04/09/2016 10:15

Whooo thanks will bear in mind

Trifleorbust · 04/09/2016 10:18

I wouldn't appreciate this at all. You move your party inside before 11pm in a residential area, surely? That's chucking out time.
