Went i to my local Greggs and ordered two pepperoni pizzas and a star cookie for dd. Guy at checkout tells me that i can have a drink for only 50p. I picked a coke and put it on the counter. Girl behind me pipes up "you really should have a ribena with two pizzas and a cookie,not coke". I replied with " I'm a grownup and i'll pick my own bloody drink,thank you!".
As to not drip feed,yes i am fat(in case that was her issue) ,no i don't like ribena.

The only logical explanation is the meal deal one. Ribena is stacked with sugar.

I'd have assumed the coke wasn't in the meal deal, but a ribena carton was. Maybe she was pointing out the error to her colleague.

Btw I'm not paranoid about my weight or eating/buying pizza. Many times i'll ask for two,they'll ask one? And i just say nope,two please with a grin. Because they're really yummy and i don't see that as a dig just they didn't hear properly/wanted to check

YABU. You should have been buying sausage rolls which is actually the reason Greggs exists. (Out of interest, does the drinks discount apply to sausage rolls? I shall be passing Greggs tomorrow.)

I don't know half of mumsnet get through a day. Everyone seems to get all offended and take everything said to them as some kind of personal insult. It is unbelievable some of the stuff people get all upset about.

MumOnTheRun - I am just glad I don't know anyone like this in real life. They sound like really hard work. You would spend your whole time analysing everything you were going to say in case you offended them.

It's Greggs not a casting call for Vogue. It's probably one of the most liberating places to go if you don't want to be judged for your weight.

Im a shop manager for greggs.. Any cold drink is included but we often point out that its the same price for a can/bottle of coke and a carton/bottle of ribena so when you have either of those options you can get a better deal. Maybe they moxed you up with the customer next to you and thought you were getting a carton/can when a bottle os better value

She shouldn't have said anything and I hope your response stays with her, your choices are none of her business.

Also Ribena is as bad as Coke sugar wise, but Coke is nicer.

She may have thought you were in need of some vitamin c from the Ribena, Rebel. Are you displaying any scurvy symptoms? Bleeding from your mouth, open sores etc?

The pizza in greggs is vile - vinegar and tomato puree on a vague approximation of bread
