That I'm not sorry my DH keeps accidently throwing things into the toilet?!

So my DH just came back out of the bathroom having set the shower running, to 'have a word'. Apparently sometimes I leave the lid up on the toilet, so when he walks in and chucks his pyjama shorts into the bathroom in the split second before turning on the light, occasionally they go straight down the open loo cue a stifled snigger
Surely he is BU throwing things towards the loo without checking the lid is down?! Should I LTB?

He is U but so are you for leaving the lid up. Leaving the lid up when you flush means all the wee and poo germs down the loo fly up 9 feet into the air and shower down on you and your bathroom....toothbrushes flannels etc all covered .... put the lid down

Sooperkat · 31/08/2016 22:12

Ok, point taken, I don't normally which was his point (my unpredictability), but on this occasion I had only blown my nose and chucked the tissue in there which is why I didn't think to close it!

He's being unreasonable.

Surely people don't really leave the lid down the whole time? I don't think I've ever come across it when I've visited people.

I feel the flying poo crumbs debate coming on.

margaritasbythesea · 31/08/2016 22:15

You made me laugh so YANBU

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 31/08/2016 22:16

I hardly ever leave my lid down. Maybe you should get an auto close one though if it's causing issues Grin

BittyWanter · 31/08/2016 22:16

Give him a Biscuit from me

Sooperkat · 31/08/2016 22:18

Oops, what have I started? Grin I just thought chucking your shorts in the general direction of the loo and hoping it was closed was VU!

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 31/08/2016 22:18

I only put the lid down if I want to use it as a seat when I'm hiding from the children
in the bathroom

JigglypuffsCaptor · 31/08/2016 22:18

But think of the flying poo!! Grin

We're a lid down house because our toddler likes to post things in the toilet, but ideally it should always be down when not in use, but he shouldn't just fling things around in the dark haha!

TheSpottedZebra · 31/08/2016 22:19

Why is he chucking his shorts in the direction of the loo?
That is a curious behaviour, no?

PickAChew · 31/08/2016 22:29

I do hope that was toilet tissue and not facial tissue you blew your nose on.

Flinging underpants across the room is [something I can't quite find a word for], though. My 12yo has just been through a phase of this, which ended quite abruptly when I made him retrieve the evidence from its various landing places.

StillRabbit · 31/08/2016 22:35

Lids are always down in this house. Even DH and DS are perfectly trained to put lids down (aim is still not always perfect though) If someone throws something in the direction of the loo without checking first then that is their problem surely....

JellyBelli · 31/08/2016 22:37

Poo spores! Poo spores!

I dont see how its your fault after the second time.

Rrross1ges · 31/08/2016 22:42

Why does he throw his knickers at the loo? Has it got a picture of Tom Jones on it?

Onedaftmonkey · 31/08/2016 22:46

Whats wrong with lifting the lid after you flush?. That's what I do before I wash my hands. I draw the line at the seat. Let the two boys do something.

SecretNutellaFix · 31/08/2016 22:48

He shouldn't be throwing his undercrackers around. They could land anywhere, not just down the pan.

:D

amammabear · 31/08/2016 22:52

the lid has to be up in this house... too many of us, with too poor bladders...

emotionsecho · 31/08/2016 22:53

We are a toilet lid down house nothing to do with poo spores it just looks neater and tidierGrin

FeelingSmurfy · 31/08/2016 22:58

Lid up or down doesn't come in to this, who the fuck walks into a dark room and decides to fling their clothes in the split second before turning on a light?!? Confused

Sooperkat · 31/08/2016 23:00

this is the first I've heard of the pant flinging tbh. Maybe he's always done it?
Now he's told me though, I can just imagine him skipping in there, merrily undercracker throwing, and then the horror of clicking on the light and realising they're in the loo. Cue sad face
Of course it was toilet tissue pick, who would flush a facial tissue?! Halo

Bloopbleep · 31/08/2016 23:03

You need to pin a photo of Tom Jones to underside of the toilet seat... Start to really freak him out. In fact I might find a photo of someone for under my toilet seat too...

BreconBeBuggered · 31/08/2016 23:06

Lids have to stay up in my house. Can't manage unnecessary bending to lift the things up all the time, and I get unreasonably annoyed when someone trained in different ways FIL transgresses my toilet code. Huge bathroom, though, so toothbrushes can be kept way out of reach of flushy poo particles.

Items thrown in the dark will inevitably land where you don't want them. Totally the responsibility of the thrower.

BennyTheBall · 31/08/2016 23:10

Our lids are never up.

If I see estate agent photos online and the loo seat is up I am Shock.

Who wants to look at the gaping maw of a loo?

NotMe321 · 31/08/2016 23:12

We never put lids down. We're tough, we are, we can cope with the horror of looking at an open loo, and none of us have died of flying poo germs.

CafeCremeEtCroissant · 31/08/2016 23:13

He's a divy. His problem, not yours!

I annoy myself re the toilet lid. I want it closed because of the flushing thing and because it looks nicer/tidier.

I want it up because (mostly during the night) I sit down, nearly have 'an issue' because I only just realise in time that the lid us down! Just as well the bladder control is still pretty much ok.

I'd leave me if I could
