To want everyone to stop it with the crossings out?

If you have something to say in a post, can you please just say it, rather than doing the intensely annoying whispering-behind-your-hand crossing out thing? I wouldn't mind so much if everyone always used it correctly but people are using it for whole paragraphs of pertinent information. It's not an effective replacement for wit.

AIBU?

From now on I will be using WBH instead of crossing out. Far more subtle Hmm

CheesyWeez · 30/08/2016 21:53

YABU. I love it. It's the equivalent of what my DD used to do aged 8 when she wanted to say things - but didn't dare say them properly - (think: Mum it was me who ate all the sweets) she used to say it anyway but not move her lips! That was hilarious too

ABloodyDifficultWoman · 30/08/2016 21:54

YANBU OP. It does my fucking swede in Some people type whole paragraphs of what they assume to be funny shit but it's not, it's just cringe and the whole bastard lot is always, you know, crossed fucking out I do not understand why people do that

Just because you CAN do a thing doesn't mean you have to

I wish I knew how to do strike through on my phone Sad
Can someone enlighten me? Sorry OP Grin

ShowOfHands · 30/08/2016 22:02

It's funny when used properly. It's often used incorrectly though. It's not a way of hiding nasty comments which is how it's mostly used.

PepsiPenguin · 30/08/2016 22:06

Alpaca brilliant Smile crazy cat lady alert... But ok because I am one too

AndDontCallMeShirley · 30/08/2016 22:14

toomuchtooold · 30/08/2016 22:26

It's just the Mumsnet equivalent of the old HHHH thing that people used to do on Usenet. I like it!

Lweji · 30/08/2016 22:30

Can you repeat the question?

Lelloteddy · 30/08/2016 22:31

Nothing worse than a failed strike through.

elephant

Fizzer123 · 30/08/2016 22:34

Ah I get it ta

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 30/08/2016 22:37

Oh you are so not being unreasonable.

I hate it with a passion. Especially when it's used to say something in a "oh aren't I naughty hehe" way. Just bloody say it! I also dislike the creepy wee brackets.

BreakfastLunchPasta · 30/08/2016 22:49

YABU, I like it although I'm probably one of those that use it in an "oh aren't I naughty hehe" way

I'm totally adopting PFC. And the phrase 'metric fuckton', which is beautiful.

daisychain01 · 30/08/2016 22:53

in case anyone is wondering, you can't do a strike thru of an emoticon buggerations

BreakfastLunchPasta · 30/08/2016 23:02

I might start using thought strike-outs on the dcs..

No, you can't have another biscuit - you didn't even eat your dinner and I've already scarfed the lot

Get back to bed now, you're going to be so tired in the morning and more importantly, I've been stuck with you all day, and can't stand the sight of you for another moment

DonkeyOaty · 30/08/2016 23:03

TooMuch I knew about the HHH^H

no I didn't fuck me every day is a school day innit

PickAChew · 30/08/2016 23:07

YABU and fuck off

whywonthedgehogssharethehedge · 30/08/2016 23:39

You can c&p it into FB posts, but it looks a bit wobbly, because the lines are at different levels, not nice and straight like MN's one.

It becomes a drunken aside then, genius.

YABU I love me a nice straight line.

I agree on DSTBEXMIL though...
