First big shopping trip with 3 week old - and 11 and 9 year old.

Went to Halfords to get better car seat (turned out mine was fine). The shop wss full of fumes so left sleeping 3 year old i cat seat putside o shop front with 11 nearly 12 year old for about 3 mins tops. Paid for new seat, raced back outside shop, and waited for staff to bring seat out. Explained it was too fumey to them and got them to do paperwork

Please tell me that was an ok thing to do with my 11/13 year old and baby. Feel like a confused new mum! So stressed!

I think you did the the most sensible thing . Your 3 week old was out of the car so no chance of over heating and it's perfectly safe for an 11 year old to keep an eye on a baby for a few minutes.
You are fine, you know how to do this. All you need is a bit more confidence in yourself.

AGenie · 29/08/2016 17:56

Is it possible that you've got a wee bit of the anxiety variety of post-natal depression? I have it just now and I am very sensitive to the smell of fumes too. I would have had all this discussion with myself under the same circumstances and also the worry about whether the car seat was good enough.

MsJudgemental · 29/08/2016 18:02

Are your older children 9 and 11, or 11 and 13? You appear to be contradicting yourself.

SvalbardianPenguin · 29/08/2016 18:07

An 11/12 year old is smart enough to open the doors or get a 3 year old out if the car gets too hot so I think that what you did was fine.

They weren't in a car.

How many times is someone going to mention about the baby being in the car.

Why don't people read the OP before they post?

Babyamazon · 29/08/2016 20:08

I think what you did was fine and to be honest I'd leave a baby in the car with an 11 year old too for a short time.

Neither the baby or the 11 year old were left in the car though????

Babyamazon · 29/08/2016 21:37

I know that they were outside the shop!

I'm just saying is leave them in the car or outside the shop.

Honestly, the OP was so full of typos that it was hard to read where the baby was. I thought it was in the car too.

Why don't people read the OP before they post?

Why don't people check their spelling/typos/autocorrect before they post?!
