To do school run in jogging gear....

DS starts reception next week. I am finding a new thing to panic about every day. Today's worry is this: my plan is to drop DS off then go straight for a run. This would mean I would be unshowered and in my jogging gear (I do not look Davina McCall cool in my kit. I look like a wobbly, sweaty pile of neon lycra).

Would this be mortifying for a 4yr old? Will other mothers be judging me? Will his teacher? Should I care? I don't think I'm bothered really but I don't want to be the embarrassing parent already.

Light-hearted by the way. Obvs. Although I am a bit genuinely worried!

Totally normal at ds's school, where DD will be going next week Grin

When she went for her settling in afternoons, I made the most of my 2 child free hours I walked her down with my bike, in full roadie Lycra.

No one should care...at DS's school the teachers dress down so much they are often in running gear themselves

Well, I don't think it matters what you wear, OP, but as you are feeling a bit nervous then maybe you should wear something which will make you feel more confident on the first day. Then suss out what everyone else is wearing and decide whether you will continue to care what they think.

I suppose you'll be nervous about other stuff too on your child's first day at school, so why add self-consciousness on top of that if you can avoid it? There will be plenty of time to let your standards slip be yourself and get on with your running once you are feeling more relaxed about the whole school gate thing. Grin

I'll be in sporty clothes or scruffy clothes depending on if I'm going walking (not a runner but will happily walk miles) or going to the allotment.

I do and don't give a damn what anyone else thinks.

Why would you care?

I can't remember the last time I have done drop off in normal clothes, I do classes 3 mornings and run the other two and sometimes even do a run for pick up on the days I do classes. Only one parent looks me up and down but that's her issue not mine.
