To think I'm not being U to paint baby's toenail?

Yes, toenail! I have twin identical DDs. I am struggling. It's okay if they're dressed, as I do different colours, but when they are in just a nappy, etc. It's too hard! It isn't so bad, is it?

My mum done this and my sister has done it with her triplets she says she could tell the difference with her twins because one refused to be put down! I'd do the same I call my son the dogs names some times never mind calling twins the wrong name

Tape7210 · 26/08/2016 22:21

Grin I have to agree with you. The feet are so edible. Here are my other DD's GrinGrin yeah, exactly the same Wink

A friend of ours with identical twins boys put a loose silk ribbon on each ankle in a colour so one was red and one was blue. They were always dressed for a while in their colour. so baby a always wore red from birth and baby b always wore blue, till about 3months them she could tell them apart more.

I was always amazed at how organised she was!

acasualobserver · 26/08/2016 22:24

I always believed that mothers could automatically tell the difference without any difficulty - this thread has really educated me!

JC23 · 26/08/2016 22:25

Tattooing a dot sounds like a good idea to me! Could prevent problems in the future. I read a book where one twin girl died and the other didn't know/was deceitful about which one she was.

x2boys · 26/08/2016 22:25

Oh they are cute Op how old are they?

Tape7210 · 26/08/2016 22:28

They're 4 months Smile

The dot thing is actually quite a good idea, they should get it done as soon as they're born (I don't like the idea of it though, if that makes any sense)

Lovely cute baby feetGrin

Definitely go with the nail varnish. They'll make themselves known eventually.

I went to DHs grandads funeral earlier this year, he was a twin, my 5 year old nephew turned around half way through, spotted great uncle Albert and said very loudly 'mummy, why is great grandad behind us, he should be in the big box?'.... That one took a bit of explaining but definitely lightened the mood a bit.

Mummyme1987 · 26/08/2016 22:38

You could do one brand of nappy for one and another for the other, or even mark one pile of nappies with initials.

Mummyme1987 · 26/08/2016 22:40

Super cute toes!!!❤️

AtSea1979 · 26/08/2016 22:40

Tape7210 · 26/08/2016 22:45

Yeah, I still can't Sad I don't know why or how long it'll continue, but they look exactly the same.

That's really quite funny about the big box!

I have identical twin nephews and I still get them mixed up from time to time and they're over 30!

I remember watching an episode of the Suite Life of Zack and Cody (that old disney show - DD use to love it) where they thought their mum mixed them up at birth so they swapped each other's personalities.

Planty18 · 26/08/2016 22:48

A friend of mine with identical girls says when they're playing she can't tell until they talk as then their character makes it obvious (they're almost 3)

Ditsy4 · 26/08/2016 22:49

My aunt had blue nappies and white ones.

Have had several sets at school. I could mostly tell which were which, the teacher couldn't but the kids ALWYAYS got it right. They were vey identical girls another set of boys were quite alike.

PepsiPenguin · 26/08/2016 22:49

Such cute little feet 😊 Forgotten what I was going to say now I want to just tickle them!

Oh that was right - paint away it makes complete sense 😊

x2boys · 26/08/2016 22:50

I dont know Atsea if at four months both babies weigh the same and look identicle i reckon it would be difficult to tell them apart .my freinds at 17 werd still very a like but if you knew them well it was subtle differances slightley different dress sizes etc they were always together as they were very close but had slightley different face shapes etc.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 26/08/2016 22:53

DO IT!

Or years to come you'll be like Mrs Weasley:

'call yourself our Mother?' (from the twins when she got them mixed up)

andadietcoke · 26/08/2016 22:54

My husband was terrified the whole time I was pregnant that he wouldn't be able to tell them apart (even though they were DCDA) but fortunately they've been completely different from birth. They're 3 next week and one is ten centimetres taller than the other and it's rare that anyone asks if they're twins, normally what the age difference is.
