To think I'm not being U to paint baby's toenail?

Yes, toenail! I have twin identical DDs. I am struggling. It's okay if they're dressed, as I do different colours, but when they are in just a nappy, etc. It's too hard! It isn't so bad, is it?

I'm fairly sure that TAMBA advise that as a way of identifying id newborns... One mum at our twins club had her babies ears pierced with different colour studs!! Nail varnish is far less drastic!

I kept my sons' tags on for ages - but luckily one stayed bald and one quickly grew some hair!

Cary2012 · 26/08/2016 21:43

I had identical twins, and was always amazed when people couldn't tell them apart! They even cried differently (to me). Nothing wrong with the nail, good idea.

Lol!! Gorgeous feet... I reckon I'd sharpie their skin just in case!

Lunar1 · 26/08/2016 21:44

I have really good friends who are identical twins. One of them fell and injured her lip, their mum admits that the tiny scar was the best thing that could have happened.

foxessocks · 26/08/2016 21:44

I've never thought about the fact that even parents of twins must struggle to tell them apart! This is very interesting!

Yanbu by the way. Very cute feet!

NaturalRBF · 26/08/2016 21:45

I don't see an issue! If anyone does comment just say "Ah you won't like their tattooed initials then!" Grin

NickNacks · 26/08/2016 21:46

Oh I don't know, I just looked and couldn't see a way to p pictures. Sad

MoonriseKingdom · 26/08/2016 21:46

There's always the head shave strategy!

I saw a thing like this on fb recently where the parents were considering tattooing a small dot on one as one needed life saving meds and they (or parents) accidentally gave it to the wrong one with serious consequences. Do it. It's harmless

Sallystyle · 26/08/2016 21:56

You should read this book, about twins who swapped and one refused to change back

exWifebeginsat40 · 26/08/2016 21:58

you could adopt the George Foreman method and give them both the same name.

you're welcome.

AGenie · 26/08/2016 22:01

I think it sounds very sensible to mark them so they can be told apart. My ds is friends with an identical twin at school and he constantly struggles to figure out which child it is that is his friend. They are in reception and often when asked they just gaze silently at him. A prominent sign on each child that is consistent from day to day would really help them form relationships I think.

ClockMakerSue · 26/08/2016 22:02

My best friend's mum said she ones got them out the bath (identical twins) and the blob of varnish she used had come off. She totally admits she has no idea if she put it back on the same one!

ClockMakerSue · 26/08/2016 22:03

*once

meridithssister · 26/08/2016 22:05

There is a mother of twins I know who cannot be sure they weren't muddled up at some point. Good idea OP

x2boys · 26/08/2016 22:07

I had friends when i was teenaget that were identicle twins theu were quite easy to tell apart ay that age but i did wonder if their parents had mixed them up as babies and claire was actually jane and jane ,claire blew my mindShock

Dreamstosell · 26/08/2016 22:11

I think I would just write their names on them. Luckily for them my twins are non identical or I suspect they'd now be wandering around high school with their names still written on there arms.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 26/08/2016 22:11

Awwwwwwww. Those teeny weeny tubby tootsies.

Not unreasonable at all. This is so cute. If it was me I might paint the middle or fourth toe just in case the baby nibbles his/her big toe, little toe is probably too small to keep the paint on.
Your picture is adorable!

Dreamstosell · 26/08/2016 22:16

There's a poem about mixed up identical twins that I learned at school.

Buunychops · 26/08/2016 22:18

I'm not a 'baby' person but my God thoes toes are edible

Planty18 · 26/08/2016 22:18

Jelliebabe we were just talking about that yesterday. OP yadnbu. I have b/g twins who are quite different and I swear there were a lot of nights in the early days I had no idea which twin I was feeding I was so tired. It's a great idea!
