Who gets to have the milk?

The fucking kids have managed to go through eight pints today.

Dh has just got home and had a bowl of cereal and then realised that was almost the last of it.

He said, oh well, there's enough for my tea and cereal in the morning.

I said what about my coffee. Can't you have toast instead?

He says he doesn't like toast for breakfast, only lunch. And I'll have to have black coffee (it's instant, so bleurgh).

I can't function without coffee. I especially can't function and then walk an hour's round trip to the shop without coffee. I usually have at least three before 9am so even leaving me enough for one is a sacrifice.

I think he should forgo his breakfast cereal and have one of the many other breakfast options in the house (toast, brioche, eggs, whatever).

He won't budge. I'm now sulking. AIBU or is he?

Couldn't you go to a 24 hour shop now for more? Still hide it from him Grin but at least you're covered for many coffees.

Inertia · 24/08/2016 23:32

Sounds like he's trying to punish you for letting the children drink so much milk, which is a bit rich given that he must have a pint to himself for 3 bowls of cereal. If 8 other people have drunk the remaining milk, he's probably had as much as anybody else.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 24/08/2016 23:33

Always have an emergency pint in freezer, defrosts overnight
It defrosts fine (semi skimmed) just needs a wee shake to mix it up

NotMyMoney · 24/08/2016 23:35

I have 3DC and we get through 4-5 pints a day! I have two tubs of Nesquik in the kitchen DC don't really like them your DC will have strong bones and lovely hair if try carry on drinking that much milk in one day Grin

Oh and if I don't get my morning coffee they'd be blood Angry and divorce papers

Sagethyme · 24/08/2016 23:39

We get milk delivered once a week. We freeze it. Full fat and semi. Both freeze really well and leave it to defrost over night.
Sorry OP that doesn't help your plight right now...!

CodyKing · 24/08/2016 23:41

Op it's the summer holidays - you always need back up loo roll and UHT milk -

We get through 4 pints daily but DH will nip to the shop first thing as he knows u can't function without tea!

Glad you sneaked some! I'd have done the same

CoolToned · 24/08/2016 23:48

Very unreasonable. Never ever deprive me of my coffee in the morning and there will be blood.

Ok, I'm exaggerating, but you get my point.

WellyMummy · 24/08/2016 23:51

It's still before midnight, order a supermarket shop online! QUICKLY!!

Florene · 24/08/2016 23:54

If I were you i'd put the spoonful of coffee in it as well, so if he stumbles upon it in the morning it's of no use to him....

HicDraconis · 25/08/2016 01:28

The logical solution (of course) is for your DH to cook himself some eggs for breakfast, which is much healthier for him at the start of the day than processed sugary cardboard with milk. This then leaves more than enough milk for your coffee (although instant is disgusting at any time of day so YABVU not to drink decent coffee!).

While he is cooking his breakfast he can be making you some decent coffee, leaving enough milk for your second cup, and cooking you some delicious eggy goodness which he can then bring up to you to enjoy in bed before leaving for work.

Mine would totally do this :) (seriously - he always makes my coffee before he does anything else, and he won't let me leave the house until I've had a decent breakfast. If I get up too late, I am given a lunchbox with an egg/ham/cheese omelette inside to take to work with me).

HicDraconis · 25/08/2016 01:29

Oh and we have bags of dry milk in the house for the same reason. Once you've reconstituted it, it behaves exactly like fresh milk (because plastic cartons of fresh milk are just reconstituted dried anyway). We almost never buy fresh milk these days and we have stopped running out.

Cavogirl · 25/08/2016 01:31

Get up super early .
Have three coffees and go back to bed.
Blame mice/fairies/intruders

hazeimcgee · 25/08/2016 01:32

Glad you've hidden some.

8 pints of milk between 7 kids who are making milkshake isn't really that much, plus all OP's coffee

Love all the grumpy posters horrified at #milkwars

Def have bedtime cereal

hazeimcgee · 25/08/2016 01:32

Ohh drink milk and LEAVE NOTE from the milk fairy

JellyBelly89 · 25/08/2016 05:54

He's being unfair. If that happened here my DH would go without or have something else. He would never make me go without (probably not even if it was my fault).

JellyBelly89 · 25/08/2016 05:56

You could always top up what's left with water

My DH knows life is not worth living if I haven't had coffee so he'd definitely let me have some, but if not I'd have decanted some and watered down what was left so it looked the same amount.... Grin

GinIsIn · 25/08/2016 06:42

oh and Goblin - ODFOD! This is not the time and place to bring up the OP's other fucking thread!!! Hmm

LumpyMcBentface · 25/08/2016 07:26

Er, Goblin, not sure how that's relevant. We're taking about milk, not wine.

Anyway. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER.

He's a gem. I knew he'd cave.

Who gets to have the milk?

See my previous post. Grin

Gallopingthundercunt · 25/08/2016 07:42

I'm loving the way people are so outraged at OP's kids having the temerity to drink milk
It's hardly as if they've been knocking back eight pints of White Lightning though we use four pints a day for three of us so my milk buying capacity is probably slightly skewed

MrsJayy · 25/08/2016 07:51

8 pints of milk ? That is a lot of milk anyway your husband is punishing you and that is not on and not going to teach you a lesson no coffee i would expire.

GinIsIn · 25/08/2016 08:02

Lumpy - for god's sake get it away from the nesquik before the kids swipe it!!

Pettywoman · 25/08/2016 08:02

You seriously need to think about moving house OP. We live 100 yards from a co-op open 7am til 10pm. It's like having your own well stocked larder across the road.
