Another Parking Thread..
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/2577631-another-parking-thread

(See above post for background info)

Annoying neighbours have continued this silly parking nonsense and even called my letting agent and complained that we parked on the road, agent told him to leave us alone and stop harassing everyone for parking legally on the public highway.

Neighbours have a new game of parking over the dropped kerb to my two spaces so I keep having to get them to move it.
Phoned the council and they said unless their car is blocking the entire dropped kerb they won't do anything about it aslong as the car is road worthy and taxed it's allowed to be there. Fine never had a problem with them parking there unless it's over my entrance.

Yesterday I came home and they have a new car - it looks like a bit of a banger and doesn't have number plates on front or back just one blue tacked to the windscreen. It's over the dropped kerb by about half a car, but my cars not available after a minor accident so doesn't matter.

Had a Google and its SORN so shouldn't be parked on the public highway.

I normally wouldn't bother but they are such arsehats and reported us for parking legally on the road.

So WIBU to report the car as untaxed and on the public highway to the DVLA?

Half think it's super petty but the other half of me thinks fuck it they started it.

Ffs op. I care not that you have twins to look after. Tell us parking things.

FuzzyCustard · 24/08/2016 18:35

Hurrah!!

PatMullins · 24/08/2016 18:39

Haha, this is very satisfying Smile

WindInThePussyWillows · 24/08/2016 18:40

So far no sign! None of their cars are there though so they could be away I suppose.. I have resisted rolling around on the parking spot naked Wink

Ha ha, well done! Looking forward to an update on if it comes back.

sisters I would assume that insurance against damage to an off road vintage car is different to insurance to drive one. If not, happy to learn something Smile

Notthiswankagain · 24/08/2016 22:20

Not sure about classic cars, but I'm fairly sure you can't insure with mot... It could be different in NI though.

Well done OP. What a complete cunt.

WindInThePussyWillows · 25/08/2016 09:50

Still no sign so I'm counting this as a MN win!

Thanks for all of your encouragement.

I wonder how much it would cost to procure, insure and tax a small moped to put on your side of the parking space?

JudyCoolibar · 25/08/2016 14:04

Some insurance companies offer specialist insurance for classic and veteran cars. I think pre-1960 cars don't need MOTs.

kali110 · 25/08/2016 14:10

Hahaha Grin

NotMyMoney · 25/08/2016 15:21

Hufflepuffin is right look at getting a moped should be dirt cheap to tax but would it need to be insured?

WindInThePussyWillows · 25/08/2016 16:16

Haha we actually did look at this and any car which is on the public highway needs valid tax, MOT and insurance!

So anyway he came back about half an hour ago and is parked there.
Really curious whether it got towed and he's been to pay for its release and now purchases valid tax or whether he has just been out or away for a night.

It's killing me not knowing!!

Give it a few days and then check online again.

Even if he did get in back and it's now insured, be pleased you cost him some cash. Wink
