Another Parking Thread..
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/2577631-another-parking-thread

(See above post for background info)

Annoying neighbours have continued this silly parking nonsense and even called my letting agent and complained that we parked on the road, agent told him to leave us alone and stop harassing everyone for parking legally on the public highway.

Neighbours have a new game of parking over the dropped kerb to my two spaces so I keep having to get them to move it.
Phoned the council and they said unless their car is blocking the entire dropped kerb they won't do anything about it aslong as the car is road worthy and taxed it's allowed to be there. Fine never had a problem with them parking there unless it's over my entrance.

Yesterday I came home and they have a new car - it looks like a bit of a banger and doesn't have number plates on front or back just one blue tacked to the windscreen. It's over the dropped kerb by about half a car, but my cars not available after a minor accident so doesn't matter.

Had a Google and its SORN so shouldn't be parked on the public highway.

I normally wouldn't bother but they are such arsehats and reported us for parking legally on the road.

So WIBU to report the car as untaxed and on the public highway to the DVLA?

Half think it's super petty but the other half of me thinks fuck it they started it.

I'm more excited than I should be about this. Please keep us posted OP,they sound awful!!

wheresthel1ght · 23/08/2016 23:49

If they were driving it then you need to call the police and report it..

It can be insured even though SORN but it cannot be driven legally.

My DH bought a car without tax, which he'd parked on the road and caught the bus to work (was many years ago when he lived in a shared house) Housemate had a massive problem with him and we suspected she reported the car. He got back and found it had been clamped and taken away the same day. Cost him about £300 (plus the tax) to get it back. Let's hope they are still as efficient!

dowhatnow · 24/08/2016 00:05

Hope the party isn't too noisy op.

WindInThePussyWillows · 24/08/2016 00:18

Party noise really isn't bothering me, babies asleep and fan on! I'm not an unreasonable naggy neighbour and wouldn't normally do anything like this but I just can't stand them!!!

Who reports someone to their landlord for legally parking on the public highway and then goes and parks there illegally thinking it's okay BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

Driving a car with a SORN? So no tax? Therefore invalid insurance? Tut tut.

No tax, SORN or no MOT does not invalidate insurance. How do you think people keep their prized classic cars insured when in storage?

OP, you can check the insurance through a website called Askmid, though you'll have to tick a box and tell a small white lie that you're checking your own vehicle Wink

kierenthecommunity · 24/08/2016 10:58

No tax, SORN or no MOT does not invalidate insurance.

SistersOfPercy you are 100%, however I'd be willing to bet this month's salary that if someone CBA to tx or MOT their car, that they don't have insurance either. I'm a cynical little thing

No, do it for sure!

WindInThePussyWillows · 24/08/2016 12:10

Went down to make my morning cup of tea and the car is no where to be seen!! Either he's taken it out for the day or the council/DVLA have come and seized it really early doors this morning!!

We will see later when I get home if it's back.

Wish I had seen it go so I knew for sure the outcome but hey ho!
