I am not being unreasonable. I can't be. It said it would be ready in 20-22 minutes on the sodding packet, 45 minuted later I gave up and ate my still crunchy brown frigging rice with my (now quite overcooked) stir fry.
I bought the bloody stuff to be healthy but it took so long to cook that I ended up eating cake while I waited cos I was so hungry. Cake!
Fuck brown rice.

I don't think Brown rice ever goes as soft and fluffy as white. It is always a bit crunchy.
It takes about 40 minutes when we cook it but is always gritty.
At first I didn't like it that much but got used to it. Now I prefer it to white which is tasteless.

I love brown rice.

And white rice.

I don't use them interchangeably because they taste so different abd have such different textures.

Cooking brown rice by the absorption method takes about 40 minutes, but involves zero effort.

Stick it on about half an hour before you start cooking the rest of the stuff (depending on what).

Love fried brown rice with eggs. Yum yum.

I give mine a good 3 hours simmer and it's perfect Grin

I always buy a mixed wild rice now. Not quite as boring as brown.

Always takes longer to cook though!!

You do really need to cook brown rice in batches because it takes so long. I add olive oil and Marigold. Has anyone ever had luck with freezing brown rice?

I batch cook brown rice in a pressure cooker and then freeze it, I have a very weak stomach but I am fine after eating it and stir frying it to reheat.
Just freeze it flat in freezer bags.
