Bread bins

Recently moved to a lovely new home and decided that what would work really well on my bare expanse of kitchen worktop would be a bread bin. So I had a little look in a few shops and found all the nice ones have the word bread painted or embossed on the side. Why, just why Confused I know it's going to have bread in, I don't need to have it spelled out for me! AIBU? Do most folk with bread bins forget where they've stashed their loaf and feel grateful for the reminder?

Most of you would hate mine then!
The reason I got it is that it's the theme of my kitchen, hot pink, not too much mind.

The bread bin is huge, has 3 packets of wraps in, bread, rolls and and thins and randomly my diary Grin

We store our bread in the microwave

Paperdoll: Google 'wooden roll top bread bin'. Loads!

A bread bin with a crumpet drawer would only interest me if the drawer were labelled "crumpets".

I also have a Ryvita tin which I keep ... other crispbreads in not Ryvita.

I would have bought one labelled crispbread but couldn't find one

We have a two storey wooden rolltop one that fits two full sliced pans, a couple of small soda breads, a packet of crumpets, and a small butter dish. And the top is nice and flat so provides a nice handy shelf for the bread board. It has no writing at all. It's the holy grail of bread bins and I love it dearly.

If I want a sandwich, Jassy, I get a couple of slices out at least 30 minutes before I want to eat it and it's fine

Ah see that's where we differ, I'm not a fan of bread that's been frozen, and also not a fan of deferred gratification when it comes to sandwiches or of bread that has been left out to get a bit stale as it doesn't defrost evenly. But different kinds of bread will behave differently, and this is definitely a hangover from growing up abroad where bread would go stale if you turned your back.

That said our bread, whether homemade or shop bought, rarely lasts more than a couple of days so we have no issues with it tasting fresh.
