At the age of 36 I've discovered that

  1. Shirley McClaine and Warren Beatty were brother and sister

  2. Camels store fat and not water in their humps.

People I've told about my discoveries have universally responded with 'well yeah, everyone knows that'.

Any other factoids you were well behind the curve with?

That you can use a Samsung phone charger to charge your Kindle. I discovered this by accident after buying the separate kindle charger for £15 THAT DOESN'T COME WITH IT!!!

Trashbox · 16/08/2016 19:26

Babies don't have kneecaps!

Trills · 16/08/2016 19:30

Micro USB. Common to many things.

My new phone uses USB-C so now it's different again, but for a while my phone and tablet and kindle all took the same kind of plug.

Pina64 · 16/08/2016 19:35

I never knew fauna meant animals either!!!

Hopelass · 16/08/2016 19:37

Trashbox I learnt that about babies kneecaps when I was pregnant with DS, now he's nearly three he's got them - I checked much to his annoyance "leave my knees aloooone mummy"

My uncle was a superviser in the Walkers factory in Leicester many years ago. We once had this convo about the colour of packets and he just said that Walkers have never changed their colours, so he had no idea why people were saying they had.

ThinkPinkStink · 16/08/2016 20:32

And speaking of Laila Morse, her stage name was chosen by Isabella Rosselini when she was going out with Gary Oldman: it is an anagram of Mia Sorella - my sister.

This ^ has made my week!

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2016 20:36

Two quotes, pinched from reddit sum up how I feel

" i remember them changing, but people here are saying they never did. I'm can only assume i've somehow jumped dimensions into one where the only difference is the walkers crisp packet colour code"

and

MY WHOLE LIFE IS A LIE

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/08/2016 20:42

We don't have specific packet colours for crisp flavours in North America. I think it's a UK thing.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/08/2016 20:43

We also don't have prawn cocktail flavour, which is a crime against humanity and must be rectified immediately.

crayfish · 16/08/2016 20:46

I didn't realise that Americans don't put kisses (as in xxx) on the end of things. I'm on a mainly US forum and the occasional Brit puts xx at the end of their posts (you know the sort...), and one of the Americans started a thread asking what it meant - none of the American people knew!

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2016 20:46

I agree. But more importantly they come in a pink bag. Everyone will agree
pink - prawn cocktail
red - plain
teracotta - tomato ketchup
brown - beef
Yellow - chicken
ans most importantly
blue - salt and vinegar
green - cheese and onion!

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2016 20:46

Oh missed "against humanity"
I hate prawn cocktail crisps

comfortblankie · 16/08/2016 20:46

Stags lose and grow a new set of antlers every year

crayfish · 16/08/2016 20:48

I also thought the eurotunnel went through the sea instead of under the ground, I was quite disappointed that it wasn't like a giant sea world.

Another America one (I should probably go there) I didn't realise they didn't have roundabouts!

YourNewspaperIsShit · 16/08/2016 20:53

goes to poke DS's knees

It's takes me forever to 'click on' to things and I'm always amazed. The pineapples have shattered my reality Grin

Forever telling people that "aswell" and "alot" are not real words Blush It's two words, "as well" and "a lot"

NyronNosworthy · 16/08/2016 20:54

All crisps go out of date on a Saturday. I'm yet to see a packet that don't.

This blew my mind when I found out Blush

YourNewspaperIsShit · 16/08/2016 20:54

They don't have any roundabouts at all? Shock

Glitteryfrog · 16/08/2016 20:56

They have a few... But Milton Keynes would freak Americans out!

RamonaTheGreat · 16/08/2016 20:59

The Walkers crisp packets thing is an example of the Mandela effect then? Also, every time someone says walkers, I think you mean zombies Grin

ThatsNotMyFuckingLife · 16/08/2016 20:59

Michael Crawford, from Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, and Michael Crawford, The Phantom of The Opera are the same person. Also, tripe is not a fish related to trout, but the lining of a cow's stomach.

I have a driving licence and kids and everything - scary, huh?!

Leirope · 16/08/2016 21:08

Babies do have kneecaps! They're just made of cartilage so don't show up on X-rays. That said I'm too afraid to double check on DS now that he's finally asleep.

antimatter · 16/08/2016 21:13

I grew up in the country. Eggs were always laid hard shelled. The on I time touched soft shelled one was when someone gave my granny a hen which was lying eggs. There was a soft shelled egg indide her belly after we gutted her. And lots of partly developed ones.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2016 21:22

Just been reading up about the mandela effect, never come across it, interesting.
do people who remember him dying in prison not remember him being released.

KenAdams · 16/08/2016 21:49

Channel Tunnel, pineapples, Big Mo and Saturday crisps are the ones that always come up on these.
