I am a massive AH fan but that advert drives me up the wall. I have completely gone off Moon River now and that CGI of her doesn't look anything like her at all!!

I'm in love with the song moon river. I could listen to it all day.
I agree the advert Is annoying though.

MistressDeeCee · 15/08/2016 01:37

I don't like it, it seems disrespectful somehow. & they've cast her sitting there as a wordless birdbrain,, just there as a pretty decoration.

I just read the CGI how the add was made article in link - its so technically smug, creators obviously think theyre the 8th wonder of the world "CGI is hear to stay". Give yourselves a big pat on the back, why don't you

I don't want to see a load of dead actors flogging stuff. Give the parts to live actors who need the work

Worra Grin

Yes yes yes to all of the above.

I've always hated Galaxy ads, they are all sexist drivel implying all sorts of unpleasant female character traits.

Tartyflette · 15/08/2016 02:05

I think despite all the technical waffle about melding CGI and real images etc on the links above it still looks weird and faintly creepy.

I don't think it looks like her, when I first saw it I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with her face but i knew something was.
I've always disliked the ad, I mute it or change channels.
As for the irony of using her image to sell chocolate...

Trashbox · 15/08/2016 02:12

I want to see Harambe get his own advert.

BillSykesDog · 15/08/2016 02:32

YANBU. No offence to Audrey herself, who was apparently a very nice person - but I hate the characters she created. They just seemed so twee and insipid and never really transcended two dimensions.

Broken1Girl · 15/08/2016 02:57

I agree, hate this.
Tbh I hate most ads, and generally mute them.
If only the energy and time devoted to advertising went to, say, the NHS...
Also both Cadbury and Galaxy taste like cheap sugar and fat and generally crap now. I don't buy Nestlé. I only buy the proper stuff now. Co-op own brand or from Holland and Barrett or preferably independent shops.
SIGH

LarrytheCucumber · 15/08/2016 06:35

I have not bought any Galaxy chocolate as a result of this advert. AIBU?

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2016 06:45

The chocolate would be melted in the heat. I hate that advert too.

However 'Where the hell has all the mud gone?' dog in the Flash as makes me want to put my foot through the TV.

SpiceLinerandHoneyLove · 15/08/2016 07:54

YY sparkling, especially when the dog stands in front of a bookcase. Did that poor cow take each book from the shelf and lovingly Flash clean each page, which would also have been covered in mud?

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2016 07:59

Angry Spice the whole ad makes me cross. When the woman turns round and holds the bottle aloft...

I also bristle a bit when G Tech man appears with his'What do you hate about vacumming?'. Um, doing it mainly. I don't care if there are 'tidy bales' or whatever. Hmm

BigGreenOlives · 15/08/2016 08:03

Just stop watching ITV or whatever channel it's on. They don't have any decent programmes anyway.

AGreatBigWorld · 15/08/2016 08:42

BigGreenOlives That will really sort the problem out the problem won't it!! Hmm Biscuit

What? Give up ITV? Shock I wasn't allowed to watch it as a child, so I am making the most of it now.

Today I am planning to tut at Loose Women and the adverts.

IcedVanillaLatte · 15/08/2016 09:09

The problem with that ad is the uncanny valley effect i.e. she looks human but not quite right.

The blinking is what does it. A natural human blink is instinctive, has flickers in it, is very quick, has an effortlessness in the muscles. A deliberate blink is slightly different. Longer. The muscles are more decisive. The eyes open all the way immediately.

Hers are like that, but more so. The length of time the eyes are closed, the decisiveness, the effort used - not quite right. They look robotic. In fact, every time I see the advert I do a little "zzzt…zzzt" noise for the servos.

I'm not sure if it's the CGI, the way the actress is doing it (trying to mimic Hepburn's style of blinking), that the actress used is actually a robot, or that Hepburn was actually a robot.

I just know that that blink is Not Right.

MisshapesMistakes · 15/08/2016 09:11

Having two dead people CGIEd into an advert for chocolate is just morbid and weird and horrible.
