To think that only a complete fuckwit wouldn't take a key?

DH (that is Dick Head) has gone away.

Train connections back were tight.

He knew this.

If connection not met them last bus back (into the sticks) would be missed.

He also knew this.

What a surprise. Things have not gone to plan.

And the stupid fuckwitted bastard hasn't taken a key.

  1. I am not picking up. Today is my day off. (He knew this as well)
  1. I am not leaving my front door unlocked all nihght in case the twat makes it home.

This also happens pretty much every time he goes away. Nob.

Good for you :)

And yes Miss....no way would he be able to leave until the OP had found him a new place to live and moved all of his stuff into it!

StillSmallVoiceOfCalm · 13/08/2016 20:04

It's just Gordon's. But Schweppes tonic. I'm on number 3 and it's getting a bit hard to keep count of stitches (lightweight).

I love him dearly (possibly gin talking) so wouldn't want him to get hypothermia but it's nice and warm and I'm reining in the mothering instinct and he can sort it out himself (and he will I'm sure).

Why would an adult EVER leave their house without a key?

It's just so rude to expect someone else to stay in the house, just in case you want to be let in.

StillSmallVoiceOfCalm · 13/08/2016 20:18

Isn't it though?

Tbh I leave the front door unlocked and dh locks up when he gets in. Especially loving where we do, semi rurally, it's relatively safe. And with having children's shoes littering the hallway, unless people know what to expect they are going to trip and make a racket coming in .

But, yanbu for wanting to be able to have a peaceful night in and not be on call for Taxi services when dh does finally get to the final station.

So being reasonable and meeting him halfway would be leaving a key in a safe place and letting him know where it is. He can then make his way home from the station. If that means he calls and gets a very expensive taxi and has to wait a while for it, then he should have been more organised and not travelled to such tight arrangements.

The OP clearly does not live in the sticks either, if her DH was planning to get a train and then a bus home.

Anywhere that you can get a train to and catch a bus from will also have a taxi company that he can phone.

It might be expensive but that can come out of his personal budget, because it was his plans that went awry.

StillSmallVoiceOfCalm · 13/08/2016 21:07

Train is a request stop in the middle of nowhere. Is v sticky. There is on bus picks up from station in the evening. It does a v long winded and round the houses route to other sticky places.
Taxi companies locally need at least a weeks notice. Really they do.
It may not be as remote as a barn in the north of north Scotland but it is quite in The Sticks enough to be quite difficult.

Where I live the main bus to the nearest city takes about an hour and a half through all the sticky villages. In the car you can do it in 20 minutes.

We are at least well served for taxis though thankfully, but my uncle lived somewhere where you really do need to ring up and book in advance for a taxi at least a few days ahead, and then again on the day to make sure that they havent forgotten/double booked! It was one of the reasons he moved.

Bogeyface · 13/08/2016 21:15

As an aside OP, how are you off for money? You could make a fucking killing if you started up a taxi firm!

StillSmallVoiceOfCalm · 13/08/2016 21:16

But have to not give in to the gin of an evening.

Not a problem!

You simply co-ordinate local drivers through your firm. They are self employed so work when it suits them, and you take 15% of the take per journey arranged through you. All you need is a mobile phone and a PC!

cardibach · 13/08/2016 21:46

I'm confused by the times here. The OP was at 17.17, but apparently he's already missed connections from a night out and won't be home until 2. There is jo indication the OP is not in the UK - everything she says is compatible with UK living.
Has he just decided he's going to miss the connection? If so he requires no help.

cardibach · 13/08/2016 21:48

Sorry mot a night out, trip away. But it must be a very long way - he has plenty of time to make plans now, surely?

Jaimx86 · 13/08/2016 21:48

Stillsmall, I would pick him up either!!

There are train lines with request stops? What, like a bus?!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/08/2016 23:23

Yep. Round here you have to speak to the guard when you get on the train if you want to stop there.

Not sure how it works if you want a train to stop at a station so you can get on.

DesolateWaist · 13/08/2016 23:30

Where my folks live you stand on the platform and stick your hand out like you are flagging down a bus.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 13/08/2016 23:39

It'll be fine to leave the door unlocked if it's that difficult to get to you. I can't imagine a burglar would bother attempting to find your house.
Do you live in the 1930s? It sounds very quaint. Wink

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/08/2016 23:39

That's what I figured.

JolieColombe · 14/08/2016 03:20

Wow. Every day's a school day!

OP, YANBU (love that that's in my predictive text Grin)
