To still be searching for 'the one'

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hi!

I'm in my 30's with one DC. I am married. I am still searching for "the one"..... mummy friend.

I have acquaintances with DC. I have friends without, but it's difficult to match our timetables.

Anyway, AIBU to just want to meet someone a bit cynical but witty, who likes coffee and cocktails and cake and sitting down as opposed to rushing about all the time, and who likes wine a lot but is also planning on cutting down because the calories don't burn off too quickly anymore?

And who likes binge watching Netflix, and really wants to see that new David Brent film?

And who has quite an immature/ bit rude sense of humour. And who lives not too far away.

It's not like I'm asking for 20. I just want the one. WHERE ART THOU MY "THE ONE"?

Msqueen that's part of the reason I posted this. I was looking for websites/ apps but they mostly seem to be American. Apparently they have a Tinder for mums. Without the one night stand stuff. I think.

I love The Office. It's just so cringe.

The friendship algorithm thing would be interesting. I'd like one where there's a meme and you have to tick the response. GrinShockHmmConfused Weed out the people who feel blessed on Facebook

babajuice · 11/08/2016 20:55

VairyVAIRY I do get what you mean. I think I'd like both, as I've got casual, acquaintance type mum friends, but I don't really feel like I'm being myself, if that makes sense? I feel like a filtered version of myself. I guess it'd be nice to meet someone I felt 100% comfortable around, and that can take years, or could be a case of finding someone that's really similar.

Whereabouts are you in the UK, OP? Sadly am a non-drinker so probably not 'the one' you're looking for.

A while ago a MNer started a Facebook group for making new friends, and I'm trying to revive it at the moment, so feel free to join, babajuice, and anybody else. It's called MN Social (it's a closed group).

babajuice · 11/08/2016 21:00

Aristotles Ooh thanks, I'll take a look!
And I'm in London, Oysterbabe

Kondos I didn't mean to diss. I'd probably enjoy it if I saw it. He's very good at growing muscles, as a PP pointed out, so it'd be a shame not to have them on display. I'm more of a comedy person than an action movie person. Also, I'm actually not too fussed about muscles if I'm honest!

JigglypuffEvolving · 11/08/2016 21:04

You'll find me on that FB group!

toffeeboffin · 11/08/2016 21:07

If you'd have said BFG we done there by now!

Ouf, London too, sorry Grin

toffeeboffin · 11/08/2016 21:07

We done there by now Hmm

Wtf.

We'd be there by now

babajuice · 11/08/2016 21:10

Okay, I think I need to watch a trailer for the BFG as it keeps coming up and I feel totally out of the loop to not know what the fuss is...

KondosSecretJunkRoom · 11/08/2016 21:10

It's not even the muscles, that might be half way respectable, I just like the movies. I'm a geek.

I love action movies, disaster movies, zombie movies, contagion movies. I think if I got matched up with a friend based on viewing habits alone, I'd be paired with a teenage boy Blush

toffeeboffin · 11/08/2016 21:11

Are you American, baba? Brits are very hard to get to know.

An American mum invited me round for lunch to her home the first time we met! 💣

I was startled.

toffeeboffin · 11/08/2016 21:12

Roald Dhal wrote it, aka Charlie and the chocolate factory author

Msqueen33 · 11/08/2016 21:14

I'm an hour from London on the train or by car. Does that make me sound too desperate?! 😉

babajuice · 11/08/2016 21:16

toffee Nope, I'm not American. I know what you mean though, in my experience Americans I've met have seemed more open.

Oh, no I know the book, I just haven't seen the trailer for the film!

OP posts:
JigglypuffEvolving · 11/08/2016 21:21

queen not at all!

I'm nowhere near London Confused

babajuice · 11/08/2016 21:29

MsQueen not desperate at all - proactive!

Marmalade85 · 11/08/2016 21:33

I have also been thinking about this OP and I am looking forward to the new David Brent film. I'm in South East London.

hazeimcgee · 11/08/2016 21:38

I'm in the Midlands. My supposed BFF saw the BFG without me DESPITE promising me whulst i was in hospital with PFB. COW BAG. Had to go see Finding Dory with her instead. With wine. I love cinema's with wine

babajuice · 11/08/2016 21:46

haze There are cinemas with wine?? Whaaaaat? This is amazing news to me. Not so much for my thighs/belly.

I'm sorry your friend was a cow bag though, and I hope you're feeling better from your hospital stay Flowers

OP posts:
babajuice · 11/08/2016 21:53

Marmalade I'm also in South East London!

Are people on the MN Social facebook group then? I'm on there now. I've toned down the "looking for the one" stuff though. Don't want to look like a total nutter so early on in my quest.

OP posts:
chocoLit · 11/08/2016 21:53

where the actual fuck are these cinema's with wine?!?!? My friends and I want to go and see 'bad moms' with a carry out................

Marmalade85 · 11/08/2016 21:56

Have you tried Mummy's Gin Fund on Facebook OP?

hazeimcgee · 11/08/2016 21:57
