To go to A&E or wait for doctor's appointment in a week's time

I am really worried I have ovarian cancer. I have all the symptoms which have been getting worse over the last 2 weeks. Today I have fainted twice (have never fainted before in my life) and have awful stabbing pains low down to one side. I've taken the max painkillers today and am still stooped over. DH says A&E but I think they won't be able to do anything and I just need to wait for a dr's referral.

Any advice please?

Hope you get everything fully checked out OP. Friend had horrendous pain with an ovarian cyst, which she was told was "stress"- and therefore a while later ended up in A+E as an emergency case, and lost the ovary. Hopefully they will scan you soon.

I don't think they'd necessarily keep you in to scan you if all your obs were normal (bo, temp etc) but I'd definitely go to the gp this week and insist on follow ups. I had three unecessary surgeries (one resulting in a miscarriage) before my cysts were properly treated. I wish I'd insisted on a scan at my first admission but I wasn't on MN the and didn't know better.

BP, not bo!

Is that at OOH or at A and E? It sounds like OOH to me and is exactly what I said they would do.
Pain that has made you faint twice and is agonising should be seen at A and E.

Hope everything's ok, glad you got seen.

Caramellattelady · 12/08/2016 07:48

Don't try and get an appointment, OP- insist on it. Say it's hospital advice and you need to be seen today. Don't take no for an answer! Good luck

I read your post last night and having been worrying about what you've said. I really think you should trust your instincts about something being wrong and go to A&E if the stabbing pains on one side continue.

If you've been fainting from it, it's not something for the GP or OOH, it's appropriate to go to A&E.

Smellyvoney · 12/08/2016 12:38

Hope you got seen. Just another voice to say please do go to a&e if the pain continues - even if you have seen the GP. They will be able to help you and have access to the right people and equipment if they need to check anything. Hope you are feeling better soon.

How are you feeling today OP?
