...to think you shouldn't put your rubbish in your neighbour's wheelie bin every fortnight without asking?

Today it was my recycling bin that had been literally half filled overnight by a neighbour (it was already half full but now is full). They do get collected today but 1. I still put things in it in the morning & 2. some of the stuff was garden waste which shouldn't be in there so the bin men could refuse to empty my entire bin.

I haven't seen who does it but based on whose bin is already full & who would be rude enough to do it every fortnight without asking, it is my neighbours who I can't stand because of past history of being utterly selfish horrors including once trying to steal my bin (and worse but there's bin history is what I'm saying )

I moved the place I leave my bins out so they're on far side of my property away from them but they still do it. WWYD? Leave it right back on my drive so they have to trespass to do it then I've got more of a beef with them, but I may forget to put it out for collection (!) Or mention it but how? It's p*ing me off them using it regularly cos they're horrid neighbours plus they're putting the wrong stuff in which could leave me with an unemptied bin.

I should add there's no man in my household which was when they started taking the p*$$ so I hate dealing with them on a personal level. I'd love to be able to send someone else over to have a word man to man but it's just me.

Phone your local council and order a bin for your moronic neighbour. Expain the situation, stating that you expect their support otherwise you will be contacting your local Cllr. (that is what they are there for) Only do the above if the direct approach has not worked for whatever reason. It is a form of bullying imo and needs to be addressed. No way would I have another's household rubbish on my property without them asking first and certainly not on a regular basis (extenuating circumstances would be they are on holiday on the day of collection for example.)

lemony She washed her car on my front garden one day

Jesus wept! Some people have no shame and no sense.

Definitely understand the male bullying of females. My mother believes males are superior creatures so my brother does too. I have done up and sold on a couple of houses and therefore employed men. Sometimes said men come with an attitude problem - I assume because I'm female as they don't have one with other men. Wouldn't be using them again.

Our old neighbours had a birthday party for their one year daughter - and filled up our bin with assorted rubbish including blown up balloons. How hard is it to puncture balloons before putting them in your neighbour's wheelie bin?

StealthPolarBear · 13/08/2016 07:52

So you had a bin full of air!

That would piss me off too - but on the other hand...
Am I the only person who would have enjoyed stabbing the balloons with a knife whilst muttering the neighbours's name? Better that than crap you couldn't reduce the size of...

I also once saw my neighbour checking the insides of his & my bins after the lorry had just emptied them, and after triple checking the bins & the street for passers by took my (much cleaner) bin and dumped his filthy stinky one outside my house even though mine has my number on! I saw by chance as I was upstairs in my house pottering by the window. Ran out & asked him for it back just as he was half way through his gate into his garden with it. He feigned a puzzled face as if I'd woken him from a trance then wheeled it back to the pavement without a word & walked off. Weirdo.

What is it about bins!

student26 · 20/08/2016 11:06

Our neighbours did that for a while with our bins. Their kids would go to the chip shop with their mates and then cram all their wrappers into our bin just before they went into their house. They did this maybe five times before my Dad got sick of it and took all their boxes and wrappers out the bin, put them in a plastic bag and left it by their back door. They got the message and haven't done it since.

unlucky83 · 20/08/2016 11:19

strictly I numbered my bins for that reason...but slightly different.
My bin was gross - maggots etc. I planned to clean it out when it had been emptied. Went to bring it in and face cleaning it and there was only one left - spotlessly clean ...
Next time they were emptied I checked to get the dirtiest...all bar the one I had the previous time were filthy - I got the dirtiest and cleaned it. Next time there were only dirty ones left...
I numbered my bin!

I wouldn't confront a man either. Any man. Not cos I'm a wimp. Not cos I'm sexist and believe it's a man to man thing, but because from bitter of experience. Most men are stronger than most women. I've got no chance against my arse of a neighbour. So I get the not wanting to confront.

Woman up is a horrible phrase. Male violence has made many women feel this way. Blame the men, not the women who feel afraid and vulnerable.

YABU I'm afraid, the bin is still now only half full and its collection day. It really wouldn't bother me at all as long as it had no effect on me. Had you have said the bin is overflowing and there's still a week to go then I could see your point; they probably leave it til collection day to make sure they're NOT inconveniencing you. I wouldn't do it but I don't think it's a big deal.

And padlocks on bins?!???ShockHmmGrin

MinesaBottle · 22/08/2016 19:11

Weirdly my mother has just called me about this so I came on here to see if anyone else had this happen! Mum is elderly and can't manage to clean out her bin after the lazy, thoughtless fuckers have dumped their bags full of nappies, food waste and fuck knows what else on top of her bags, so the lid won't close. The neighbours don't even have any bins! And they must be keeping an eye out because this morning she deliberately put her bin out about ten minutes before the binmen came - and the pricks STILL put their rubbish in it.

She is going to have a word but no doubt that'll only have an effect for a few weeks. I'd love to dump all their shit in their kitchen, the lazy cunts.

wheresmyfairygodmother · 23/08/2016 23:10

Mines sorry to hear that. How rude and to do it to someone they think won't or can't fight back. I understand how your mum feels.

I looked up gravity locks but they're ~£35 each. Great idea but I have 3 bins! I rang my local council to discuss my situation. They couldn't help Hmm but said i couldnt drill holes to fix a lock anyway as bins are council property and they advised I get an extra bin to accommodate my neighbours dumpings! Like I want 2 recycling wheelie bins on my front drive while I noticed yesterday my prime suspect neighbours, who used to have a normal sized wheelie bin plus a smaller one, seem to have downgraded to just the smaller wheelie bin! I guess because their s**te is in my bin!

Anyhoose.... it's nearly collection time again & this fortnight I have recycled EVERYTHING possible plus got some bags of a local friend's excess recycling waste so my bin is FULL. Hoping if it's full the nxt few cycles the fly tipper will do one.

Ok let's get this straight. I completely understand the notion of not having a man in the house. It did not stop me from confronting an idiot of a neighbour who thinks it is perfectly ok to use my recycle bin if he feels like it. HOWEVER I do absolutely understand why it can and does make a difference. As a woman on my own for some years now I experience other people's attitudes to this daily. Neighbours view you as something out of the usual and at times as an easy target in all sorts of ways. Unless you are in this position you have no experience nor right to comment. And YES it does matter that people cross boundaries and think they have the right to do what they like. Cross one boundary and they think it's ok to cross others. Lack of respect for others and being pig in ignorant is what this knd of behaviour signifies. I hope you have managed the put this idiot in his rightful place. I am pretty certain my neighbour won't be dumping his stuff in my bin again. If he does I will lock it. But that should not be necessary.

IndigoWendigo · 19/05/2017 09:42

We had neighbours walking over from across the road to put rubbish in our bins! And next door!

Caught them at it and just said "That's not your bin, is it?" And they said they don't know where there bin in. I replied "Not my problem".

ambereeree · 19/05/2017 10:52

I don't understand people like this. Its good manners to ask to use a bin occasionally. My neighbour said i could use her bin if needed but i always ask before i do. Which is rare.

Kokusai · 19/05/2017 10:55

There's no man in the household

Are only men allowed to talk about dirty rubbish then?

  1. Go and ask neighbors not to put rubbish in your bin
  2. Buy a bin padlock and install
  3. take rubbish out and dump it in their bin even if it is full
AwaywiththePixies27 · 19/05/2017 12:31

YNBU.

I saw a neighbour of mine doing this this week on Bin day. He waltzed out with his excess bags and started putting it in other peoples bins. Not so funny when they put the wrong stuff in and then the binmen wont take it because 'you' have put the wrong waste in.
