VanillaSugar gave me the honour of continuing this into the third thread, since she's busy cooking meth and probably won't even appear on this although like the previous two nobody will respond. Grin

How fast can we fill this one?

Pics of our virtual boyfriends, random facts, bad puns all welcome! No need to keep up with us, nobody ever can Wink

You're doing sterling work there, jet!

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 12:01

Actually, we're not doing too badly - third thread was only started late Sunday night! (The first one took about 10-11days to get to 1000!)

Whataboutwhathuh · 09/08/2016 12:01

I'm watching a bbc4 book about ladybird books. I'm sooo productive.

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:35

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:37

Have had a visit from the Police

toadgirl · 09/08/2016 12:39

I read about your DD, Portia!

What an awful experience for the poor girl. So glad her boyf was with her.

What are the Police saying?

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:39

Car has been retrieved and is now getting new lights and number plate.

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:41

Police were very uncommital but took a statement from dd who is ok.

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 12:41

Is the driver being charged with anything?

Noonesfool · 09/08/2016 12:42

I am actually not responding today rather than pretending to not respond. Much like my never to be mentioned again THING.

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:43

Insurance company informed.
Gran is here taking charge and I'm grateful.

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:46

The very dishy constable mentioned something about threatening behaviour towards a minor. Dd is 2 months from being an adult.

PortiaCastis · 09/08/2016 12:48

Any hooooooose Gran says get off that net contraption and make some lunch . Better do as I'm told !

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 12:48

That was cryptic, Noone! I'm still working on it...

AverageGayLad · 09/08/2016 12:51

OK - some facts about 3, since we're on Thread No 3!

Three has always been considered a mystical and magical number. It is important in many religions including Christianity with its Holy Trinity.

It is the number that crops up time after time in Fairy Tales: The Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs etc. Characters in Fairy tales are always given three wishes, or three days to do something (eg guess Rumpelstiltskin's name). There are always three princesses - Cinderella and the two ugly sisters, for example.

The magic of three is everywhere in Shakespeare - there were three witches in Macbeth, three caskets for the suitors to choose from in The Merchant of Venice (gold, silver and lead) and King Lear had three daughters - one good and two evil.

The magic of three is seen in oratory where groups or lists of three are recognised as being a powerful, persuasive device. The Romans, masters of the art of rhetoric, called it the "tricolon" and worked as many as possible into their speeches. Caesar declared: "I came, I saw, I conquered" and Mark Antony addressed his audience as "Friends, Romans and Countrymen".

The number 7 is also a magical number but we'll leave that discussion for another thread... Grin

Better Those are some cool facts, but couldn't you have split them into three posts? Grin

AGL everyone's a critic Wink

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 13:46

Grin Grin Grin (See what I did there!)

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 13:52

To prove my point, I think we should list as many stories, poems or songs with the number 3 in them. Excellent for the post count! Nursery rhymes count too! Also films.

Feel free to throw them into the discussion whenever you think of any.

I'll start with: Three Blind Mice

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 13:54

OK - here's a film. Three Days of the Condor (starting Robert Redford)

RubyCav · 09/08/2016 13:55

Lion king - 3 hyenas

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/08/2016 13:56

Three Time Loser (Rod Stewart)
