Can I divorce over cheese?

Thewrongcheesegrommit · 07/08/2016 21:16

I'm 7 weeks pregnant. Have been waiting for dickhead (from here-on to be known as dh) to come home with cheese so we can have dinner (which I was going to cook) Was going to be pasta and cheese, nice and plain and easy.

He walked in the door at 9pm with a block of mild cheese. I've never eaten mild cheese in my life, and we've certainly never bought it as a couple. Who would put mild cheese on pasta??

I got very upset, literally sobbing. He tried to comfort me but I don't want to be touched (over 13 hours alone with ds18 months and dd7 months) I just want my fucking cheese. He got snotty and raised his voice because I told him I didn't need to be comforted.

Have bad pregnancy nausea and I've gone to bed hungry whilst he goes out with the fucking dog.

AIBU to divorce over cheese? I really fucking hate him right now Sad

Yanbu. What is mild cheese even for, other than disappointment?!

I have this with butter. DH insists on margarine whereas I want proper butter. We've had a few 'discussions' about this and he now uses proper butter for me.

Stand your ground or you'll end up with low fat mild, and at that point it's just not even cheese.

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/08/2016 21:36

What sort of cheese?

FoxesOnSocks · 07/08/2016 21:37

If you do go ahead with divorce proceeding I think you should also add to the crimes he committed against you is that it was him got you pregnant and caused you to be unable to eat blue cheese. A cruel and terrible situation to be in.

RebelRogue · 07/08/2016 21:38

I can see why you are cheesed off op. If i were you i would buy lots of cheese and Edam all. I do wonder if he's done it on purpose so he could go "walk the dog" and he's up to no Gouda

Thequilltosurvive · 07/08/2016 21:39

I didn't even need to read the post to know YANBU. Any cheese-related offences are automatically a divorceable crime. Cheese is the cornerstone of any solid marriage. If DH ever brings home an emmental he's out on his ear.

Shadowracer · 07/08/2016 21:40

He purchased what now? Absolutely LTB.....OR you could do shopping in line from now on! Ooophf I do not envy the hell of pregnancy sickness, I think by crying you've been very restrained....i'd have been tempted to shove his cheese in one of his orifices Grin

RepentAtLeisure · 07/08/2016 22:19

I get it. Do some women just not get pregnancy mood wings?

When I was pregnant I ended up inconsolable at a pizza restaurant because DP didn't want to split two mains with me. He dug his heels in because I'd been crying all day and he was irritated, so I started crying so hysterically that loads of staff came running over because they thought he had hit me!

Planty18 · 07/08/2016 22:22

I totally get you. DHs need to suck it up and bring exactly what we ask for during that stage. I know that I did exactly the same thing during my first pregnancy but now six years on I honestly can't even remember what the food was, so don't divorce him just yet, I think you'll feel better in the morning. Cheese though is important so make it clear it must not happen again. Congratulations by the way Smile

YANBU.

Pregnancy needs and hormones aside, anyone that deliberately buys mild cheddar aka soap is disturbed, and possibly a perverted lunatic.

hellokittymania · 07/08/2016 22:31

Sending you virtual cheese :)

Didactylos · 07/08/2016 22:32

poor soul
DP once bought mild cheddar when it was cheap and we were on a budget
He got the same reaction as your DP and I didn't even have the hormone excuse!
What is mild cheddar used for? it tastes like putty

Crispbutty · 07/08/2016 22:37

My ex husband preferred mild cheese... Notice the ex part!

My lovely partner likes any cheese except mild..

Cheese is very important! We just polished off a big plateful of Stilton, string cheddar, carrs water biscuits and Cornish butter

maisiejones · 07/08/2016 22:38

🧀🧀🧀. Look, I found you some cheese! I'm assured it's extra, extra strong! (Even if it does look like Emmenthal but it's the best I could do at this hour on a Sunday).

Specialagentblond · 07/08/2016 22:43

My husband says they have it on amazon prime now, usually delivered in an hour, but we are not sure if they would deliver on a Sunday night. I hope you find some decent cheese very soon xxx

LifeInJeneral · 07/08/2016 23:00

Unbrieleivable! He chedder have edam gouda reason for this kind of behaviour. Personally I camembert the mild stuff. I'm surprised you are stilton with him tbh. Cheesus Christ.

blueturtle6 · 07/08/2016 23:17

At least you have cheese, I'm sat up waiting for my Asda delivery.
As for your problem, I think you have made position quite clear and dh will do better next time Smile

RainyDayBear · 07/08/2016 23:17

YANBU.

I once turned down an online date with an attractive guy because his profile mentioned that he didn't like cheese. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life!

FreeFromHarm · 07/08/2016 23:23

Shut up shut up ... Love cheese and chemo left me dairybloodyintolerant ...could just eat a slice of toasted cheese with Worcestershire on top ..yummy .. Sorry divorcable offence !!!

FoxesOnSocks · 08/08/2016 06:41

Who the hell puts on their profile that they don't like cheese? What sort of weirdo thinks that is positive or in anyway attractive? You had a lucky escape there RainyDay, very sensible of you.

FreeFromHarm have you ever tried the fake cheese?

I get it for my nephew to make him pizza and he likes it. Admittedly he's 7, allergic to dairy and has never actually tasted cheese.

FoxesOnSocks · 08/08/2016 06:43

It isn't as wickedly plastic or as upsetting as mild cheese though. So that's something.

TheMaddHugger · 08/08/2016 06:45

At least it wasn't Cottage Cheese, Don't ask ;)

ProfessorPreciseaBug · 08/08/2016 06:53

Posting in favour of Ementall..
But you have to eat it when cold..

FreeFromHarm · 08/08/2016 10:42

Foxes Sorry to ambush this thread !! , tried the dairy free it's ok, and for some strange reason I can eat houlumi , I crave cheese so much , because I know I can't have it .. The dairy free is expensive but lush

DarlingCoffee · 08/08/2016 16:13

Mild cheese is all kinds of wrong.
