I feel quite guilty. I've had a rather shit day. Dh and I are struggling atm as I'm off work atm and I only get SSP, thankfully Dh is the higher earner (although he only earns 15k pa after tax) so we can survive, but what's thrown it all sideways is I've just found out I'm pregnant (today) bit of backstory so you can see why I'm in a rather impressive sulk.
I was going to the supermarket and when walking across the car park a woman blocked my path with a trolley. In her defence I wasn't really looking where I was going. Skirted around the trolley apologising. Unsure if relevant. Grabbed a trolley and went in store. Through several aisles this woman was in front of me. Each time she suddenly stopped and started texting. Three times out of about 7 I had to say excuse me. Each time she took over a minute to pull her trolley to the side The aisles are very narrow, big enough to get two smaller trolleys down side by side but not the bigger ones, she had a large one I had a small one, therefore I couldn't get around her without her pushing her trolley right to the side. Finally as I was heading toward the end of an aisle to check out she did it again, I ended up sort of impaled on the handle of my trolley and my knee jerk reaction to this was to shout "get your head out of your fucking phone before you cause someone or yourself a bloody mischief!" Blush feeling rather ashamed. Was I being unreasonable?

I used to use the calculator on my phone to add stuff up as I went round the shop - limited budget and maths skills

How could you have got stuck behind her so many times if you kept overtaking her?

I think perhaps you have "embellished" this slightly. Which makes you look even more U really. I get the "people stopping suddenly in front of you" rage, especially as I use a wheelchair and it's a fucker to brake suddenly, but shouting and swearing over what is really a trivial matter, is U. I would be a bit embarrassed if I had acted so aggressively I certainly wouldn't be posting about it here Wink

MoggyMischief · 02/08/2016 18:56

At the end of the day if you feel bad enough to post as you feel ashamed - you're a good person.

You'll most likely never see her again so - have the wine or gin I hope you got in your shopping and chill.

Shizzlestix · 02/08/2016 18:57

YANBU. Well done! I would have wanted to do it too. People head down in phone annoys the crap out of me. I have my shopping list on my phone too, but I'm always aware of those around me.

PinkissimoAndPearls · 02/08/2016 19:05

My DD once got shouted at "use your fucking ears you stupid bitch" when she stopped in front of a cyclist who a. Shouldn't have been on the pavement and b. Didn't see her hearing aids.

Luckily and ironically she didn't hear him.

There does seem to be so much needless aggression these days.

GabsAlot · 02/08/2016 19:05

i say excuse me once then ibarge their trolley-sorry its just downright rudness

allegretto Tue 02-Aug-16 18:45:37

YANBU but today I had the same thing with a car driver - stopped at three red traffic lights (me behind her) and every single time didn't pull off at green as she was bloody texting!!

i think u should have pulled over and reported her for texting whilst in control of a vehicle

MargaretCavendish · 02/08/2016 19:07

Hopefully only if she's not planning to keep the pregnancy!

Memoires · 02/08/2016 19:14

When people do that to me in the supermarket, I gently move their trolleys for them with an equally gentle smile. No one has time to hang about for other people's phone use.

Has anyone ever actually tried this? I did a couple of times (once when I saw a driver I am 100% sure was under the influence of something) - Police couldn't have been less interested.

Liiinoo · 02/08/2016 19:18

You were as bad as each other.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope all works out well for you.

RichardBucket · 02/08/2016 19:19

wasonthelist I reported a drunk driver once. Was in Tesco, she was literally stumbling around the aisles stinking of booze, then I saw her stumbling into a car and starting it up. Called 101 and they sounded thoroughly bored when taking the details... very slowly.

OreosAreTasty · 02/08/2016 19:20

I got stuck behind her more than once as I went up and down lots of aisles trying to find fucking nori sheets no reason to embellish anything o.O

"And then you get shouted and sworn at. Not because you've been horrible or offensive but just a bit annoying."

See, this is the sort of thing that puts me at odds with many bumbling people I think.

I think it is horrible and offensive to be oblivious and rude, inconveniencing everyone around you.

So in my view, someone who acts like that deserves a telling off.

TuppencePenny · 02/08/2016 19:23

YANBU she sounds a pain.

lljkk · 02/08/2016 19:30

NBU.
This happened to me yesterday:
Cycling downhill I was behind a . Big gaps in traffic kept opening up in front of VTMAPA. We were down to about 4 mph. I noticed driver had right hand on steering wheel & kept glancing down in her lap where her other hand seemed to be. I overtook & said loudly at her "Get off yer phone." About 20 seconds later engine revs loudly from VTMAPA as she pulls up to my left shouting "Blah blah blah Bloody blah blah." This happens repeatedly. I reckon she only didn't run me down because too many witnesses.

People are too in love with their phones.

snowgirl1 · 02/08/2016 19:35

YANBU, although you were a bit sweary. My DH keeps walking towards people who are too busy looking at their phones to watch where they're going (and who are relying on everyone else moving out of their way) and lets them crash into him.

Billben · 02/08/2016 19:43

YANBU. Shoppers who think they are having a bloody stroll in Hyde Park give me the rage also

StarryIllusion · 02/08/2016 19:43

You were incredibly rude and I am incredibly proud of you. Star people boil my piss wandering around with their noses in their phones. Actually most people boil my piss. I just hate everyone.

BettyBB2 · 02/08/2016 19:46

hugely unreasonable. Have a cup of tea and a round of meditation before you go out shopping again if you can't control your temper :)
