I am SAHM with DC 2.5 and 6mo
During day I do childcsre and all house chores shopping washing tidying cleaning cooking etc no probs. we have big house (5bed 4bath) and no cleaner.

Laundry room is on ground floor.
All bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs except an DS loo.

As I clean and tidy I sort things into piles eg 6mo clothes, 2.5 yo toys etc, then put sorted piles on stairs to take up as and when I go upstairs.

I put each pile on a different step so they don't get mixed up agin. I put them On very side of step so still 60cm or so of free step to walk up and down.

I never go up without a pile, unless im carrying the baby. As at the moment I am quite often carrying the baby, on a given day there can be anything from no steps to four or five steps with piles on. It's usually less than two but today particularly bad as back from holiday so loads of washing.

I try to put away any piles I haven't managed during day once kids asleep (doesn't always happen as want WineGrin)

My DH said I'm making a death trap and I should take things up immediately

I said this is my method and the only way I get things done. And pointed out he never carries a pile up, even though never carrying anythkng and even if it is a pile of his clean washing.

He said I am just being lazy,

Who is being unfair

Jesus, Lady! :(

I'm forever putting piles of stuff on the stairs. Currently, there are presents from a recent event and a pile of clean washing from the dryer. The only time the DH takes things upstairs is if I've blocked the whole stair with the laundry basket. He then kindly puts it on the bed for me to sort. Can't whinge, he does loads in the house, but he has an absolute blind spot re stuff on the stairs.

I have a B&B and a 6 month old and our house is over three floors. I use a version of this system. I have three plastic shopping baskets borrowed basically stollen because I was to sleep deprived to notice if replaced the shopping into the basket and not a bag! from the local shop and they live on each floor and during the day basket on ground floor and 1st floor get filled with stuff to go up and one on the 2nd floor gets filled with stuff to go downstairs. No fudging way was I humphing a baby and washing and other shite up and down all day. The baskets go upstairs at the end of the day and downstairs in the morning unless its urgently needed. In which case DP can get it himself!

Ps forgot to say were the hell does your DH think he is? Commentator at the Olympics?!? GrinTell him to shut his puss, carry up all the piles and put them away - In the right place - and get back to worshiping the ground you walk on. Xx
