Which rides are best for a four year old?

If you have a tesco club card you can swap £15 (I think might be less) for 1 day ticket.

Definitely buy the qbot

StealthPolarBear · 01/08/2016 18:42

It's no longer kelloggs that do the 2 for 1 it's Cadbury. I have a spare one if anyone want me to post

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 01/08/2016 18:43

We are going on Friday, with hotels, and travel etc no way can we afford 4 q-bots. Worried it is going to be all rather pointless now tbh.

StealthPolarBear · 01/08/2016 18:49

Bear pay attention to the boards. If you can, hang around until 4pm to go on some of the busier rides.
We did it without a bots and should have queued less but we didn't spot the boards until too late

TheSconeOfStone · 01/08/2016 18:50

I totally disagree with Q-bots on principle but after a 4 hour drive with DH's dodgy knees making constant queuing difficult we caved and got them (on the grounds we were never going to Legoland again so might as well make the best of it). We went on a wet non-pupil day in October and still 40-50 minute waits for lots of things. Just not worth it. The car park was a farce.

Had a perfectly nice time at Disney in late August and Summer half term so I'm not anti theme park.

My advice is get there really early.

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 01/08/2016 18:52

I have downloaded an app just - not sure yet what it does, think we are planning on staying quite lateish as we don't have to travel back home on the night luckily.

Katedotness1963 · 01/08/2016 19:02

We've lived near the German one for years. We quickly learned to avoid it in August, it's mobbed! if you go, get there early, that way you can leave early as the queue to leave the car park at closing is a nightmare.

redastra · 01/08/2016 19:44

Personally, I would say not to bother going. I thought it was over priced, tired and outraged!

But if you are going take swimwear for the kids to wear in the splash park or they won't get in, my eldest was turned away for having a pair of cycling shorts and a Tshirt on, we were told to buy some in the shop (expensive!!!).

RubbleBubble00 · 01/08/2016 20:35

Only ride my 3.5 year old couldn't go on was Mia horse ride. He went on every other ride as he was over 90cm - he loved the roller coaster. Boys particularly liked the driving school and the fire engine ride

Kanga59 · 01/08/2016 20:40

Get there for 9:30 so that to can get your tickets, park, ride-in-car if you want one, ride access pass (if you qualify ) etc by the time the gates open at 10am. Start at the back (basically don't turn left and walk down the hill first) and work your way to the front. Take paracetamol.

Passthecake30 · 01/08/2016 20:46

We've just been, 3 years running now Smile
Weekdays are massively less crowded than weekends, so if you are going fri and sat do the huge queue rides first...learner drivers, boat rider and laser rider. Go straight to one of those the minute you get there. A combination of dates spanning tues-thurs would be better but I guess to late now. Stay until the bitter end, we found on both days we did 3 rides in the last hour, compared to queuing for an hour:...
Take picnics as the queues for food are just as bad. You could then eat lunch queuing..and have a sit down later with some nice Carte Dior ice cream...
Refillable soda bottle is £8, unlimited Fanta/Sprite/Coke etc. For one day only but nobody checked
My ds loves the pirate show, dd loves the Lego friends show.
The shop stays open after the rides have closed so don't rush to it.
Parking in the regular £5 car park is fine, a few mins walk, don't pay for priority parking.
No bees/wasps when I went.

Passthecake30 · 01/08/2016 20:47

Oh and leave anything heavy/raincoats/discarded picnic bags in a locker (£1) and collect as needed

roseteapot101 · 01/08/2016 22:53

for budget hotel we stayed at maidenhead central theres no car park though.Handy tip theres a sainburys downstairs next to the front door that opens every day at 7am.Cheap food and easy access to picnic making materials.Just bring the bag/containers

roseteapot101 · 01/08/2016 22:54

sorry typo maidenhead central travel lodge

JustBeingJuliet · 01/08/2016 22:59

I went last week and thankfully the wasp issue seems to have been sorted out as we only saw two all day, which was an improvement on last year (as a wasp allergic person, last year was my idea of hell!).

My biggest tip is don't eat the chicken tenders from the burger kitchen. We had two kids throwing up in the back of the car on the way home last week Angry

The queues weren't too bad, but all seemed to be the same length (45 minutes) regardless of which ride you wanted to go on. Some are worth queueing, some really aren't.

HopefulHamster · 01/08/2016 23:03

Only go if you have an offer. Buy Qbots if you can (we are family of four but bought two as dd is only 1.5). Sort out tickets/qbots online/on phone if you can, it will save time.

Go to back of park on opening. Don't aim to go on everything. See a show (but turn up early). Take a picnic. Make time for the Star Wars bit, it's better than miniland I think. There are some interesting models in the area above star wars (which was empty when we went there).

It's not a particularly impressive place but my lego-addicted son loved it.

CornishYarg · 01/08/2016 23:11

My 4 year old's favourite rides were the log flume, Viking river rapids, Apprentice rollercoaster (smaller one in the Knights area) and fire academy. Don't bother with the Laser ride in the Pharaoh section - huge, slow moving queue and he only worked out how to aim at the end of the ride!

Use the lockers rather than going back to your car for picnics etc as it's a long walk so will waste lots of time.

A couple of the drink stalls are marked as Hydration Stations on the map and the staff there will fill up your water bottles. No need to buy the drinks cups if you just want water.

Start at the back as others have said and stay till closing time if you can.

vjg13 · 02/08/2016 07:21

Anyone been to the one in Denmark? Any additional tips/tricks for this one?

Flickers · 02/08/2016 08:19

Why anyone would go to Legoland on a peak day is beyond me. It is hell on earth. Especially with a four year old. My (patient) five year old got itchy feet in the queues even on a non-peak day during a recent visit. The thought of going during the school holidays makes me shudder.

The Qbot things are expensive. You can buy different levels I think (some up to £75). They're a pain in the arse when you have been waiting patiently in a queue for 20 minutes and have told DC they're on the next ride, only for qbot people to jump in front.

If you really are brave enough to go for it, then absolutely head to the back of the park first and do those rides. The submarine thing is excellent (if you're not claustrophobic) but the queues for that become huge quickly. DS loved the fire engine school thing too, and the boats.

Good luck.

StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2016 08:23

Well because when it's not the school holidays my children are at school

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 02/08/2016 08:31

My kids loved it, my youngest son said it was the best day of his life! Went in the holidays, buying tickets with Tesco clubcard vouchers saved a lot of money.

I write my mobile number on the youngest children's arm in case they get lost in the crowds.

Flickers · 02/08/2016 08:32

No shit.

There are a billion other fun things to do in the holidays which don't involve an overpriced, outdated and horrifically busy theme park.

Flickers · 02/08/2016 08:33

(Sorry that was in reply to stealth, not ilostit )

They write mobile numbers on wristbands now.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 02/08/2016 08:34

Went yesterday and it was great. We always QBot and because it wasn't a great weather day it was quieter - one of the staff said Sunday was heaving.

Duplo bit is great for 4 year old and is quiet first thing. Also Atlantis, the train and Boating School - but queues there are massive
