It's wrong and illegal to leave a dog in the car , but it's ok to leave your kids in the car while you go shopping .
It's unacceptable to take photos of neglected kids, but it ok to report neglect if you show empathy.
No wonder there are laws for dogs in car, seat belt for kids, no smoking in cars.
Society is sending out confusing messages .

Offs.

If everyone on Mumsnet were of the same opinion and that opinion were consistently applied it would be less of a forum and more of a manual.

heat only takes a few minutes to overwhelm in a car
That heat would have to be very extreme for it to cause problems within a few minutes. Even on the hottest days in the UK I don't believe that would be possible in a few minutes.

Of course parents have to be careful, but they should be able to use some judgement and get away from this notion of a black and white rule. There are times and circumstances when it would be perfectly acceptable to leave a baby in a car for a short time.
Going into a shop out of sight of the car - probably not.
Having a 10+ minute browse or shop - probably not.
Parking directly outside the newsagents to grab a paper and a drink - probably ok.

BREAKING NEWS!

People have different opinions on parenting website!

Not everyone agrees on things!

Did you wake up on the goady side of the bed OP?

newshoes68 · 30/07/2016 15:34

Paying for fuel is acceptable as you can supervise the children from the window .

As you can from some shops.

lljkk · 30/07/2016 18:30

You're making it up as you go along, newshoes. (like the rest of us)

LilacSpunkMonkey · 30/07/2016 18:39

The OP is popping up on other threads being goady too.

Very recently joined too.

I'm sensing a disturbance in the force with this on.

lljkk · 30/07/2016 18:47

ha! I am off to admire her goadiness elsewhere, then.

nevercutthegrass · 31/07/2016 11:21
