Sorry but keeping with the theme in general...a baby asleep in its cot- leave it alone alseep with nearly twelve year old sibling or not?

Also the OP hasn't said it's a 'late night run'.

Although to be fair, she's given very little in the way of info really.

papayasareyum · 28/07/2016 23:33

Of course I would. Sometimes I venture into Mumsnet and wonder if I've entered some bizarre and paranoid parallel universe

WorraLiberty · 28/07/2016 23:35

papaya, Mumsnet resembles my real life less and less each day.

papayasareyum · 28/07/2016 23:36

mine too Worra, mine too

Metalguru · 28/07/2016 23:37

Yes of course, unless you doubt the capabilities of the 12-year-old in such a situation, which you must do or you wouldn't ask. My 12-year-old mire than ready for this.

Mycraneisfixed · 28/07/2016 23:40

Yes I'd leave your 12yo in charge of your baby. You know your own kids.

WellErrr · 28/07/2016 23:41

Same papaya.

Ditsy4 · 28/07/2016 23:43

OP has said that it isn't her but someone was discussing it and thought it was acceptable but OP doesn't and then wondered what others thought.
Personally I wouldn't do it but my mum used to pop two doors away to the shop and leave me. I was very capable at 12 and looked after my two sisters and my mum at that age when mum was ill during her last pregnancy and burst a vein. I did first aid then ran for the Doctor and then looked after them all for about three weeks. Mum said my sister couldn't have done it at that age.

Biffsboys · 28/07/2016 23:49

The op has said a. SLEEPING baby - not one crawling about getting up to mischief ? Yes it may wake but I think for a pop to shops it's fine ?

angelikacpickles · 28/07/2016 23:52

Of course it's fine.

WorraLiberty · 29/07/2016 00:04

Jesus, it's not like we're living in 2016 where we all have mobile phones either...

'What if the 12 year old managed to open the door'

My 10 year old knows how to open the door and has done for a very long time. You don't lock them in!

WorraLiberty · 29/07/2016 00:20

I'm pretty sure fakenamefornow was joking Lonny Grin
