Can't explain it, it's too big. And floating in water. Makes me feel all.... Eugh.

Well that totally freaked me out.
Firstly it is HUGE and secondly I clearly don't know who Rebecca is as I thought she didn't have standard length arms. I must have got her muddled up with someone else.

nuttymango · 27/07/2016 00:07

At least it's Rebecca Adlington and not the Hamburg lady in the lake, now that is freaky.

cozietoesie · 27/07/2016 00:08

I can't help wondering how it will look after a few years of being a pigeon or seagull roost. That's almost inevitable, I fear.

Lorelei76 · 27/07/2016 00:10

Nutty, that is worse!
Imagine the tourists in Hyde park this week thinking, ooh I'll get some lovely photos of the serpentine...and then they see that. No offence to Rebecca who is fab.

I don't like it either but, unlike the Hamburg statue, at least the one of Rebecca doesn't look like it's giving birth!

(also no offence to Rebecca)

mellowfartfulness · 27/07/2016 00:17

I don't like it. It's the massive pinkness of it - like a humongous mannequin. I'd like it more if they'd made it more stylised and all one colour or something. As it is, it's almost like a real swimmer but with an unnerving not-quite-rightness about it.

yep, that statue was just...wrong.

cozietoesie · 27/07/2016 00:23

If it's to be permanent, I'd guess that daubing the pinkness with graffiti could well become a rite of passage for local youth after a night of revelry. I don't think its location will protect it for long.

I like it.

acasualobserver · 27/07/2016 09:24

I can't help thinking about the (imagined) part of her below the water. There's nothing actually there, is there? If a crane removed the sculpture, what would we see below the water?

NeedACleverNN · 27/07/2016 11:28

Anyone else think the German bather statue just looks a bit rude? Grin

DiscordiaVanDiemen · 27/07/2016 15:01

Reading this thread will probably give me nightmares tonight; I'm freaked out by giant things Shock
