Should Mumsnet forum users be allowed to Swear!

No offence I enjoy reading the discussions on this board but why do mums really feel the need to swear in their posts! What kind of example are we setting as mums if we can't control the use of our tongues and use language that is obscene.

Mumsnet - why is it not your policy to remove swear words from posts? saying we are all adults doesn't excuse the use of foul language! I am sure I cannot be the only mumsnet user who doesn't want to read swear words every five seconds. It makes me close a thread and stop reading what otherwise could be an interesting read.

All I can say is no wonder every time I go the playground with my kids I hear young children using foul language when parents can't even control their tongues anymore! Unfortunately I agree the world is full of people who swear but as mums should we not take the lead in setting a good example for the next generation???

Blatherskite · 23/07/2016 20:15

8 pages I've had to read through! 8 pages for foul language!!

Just so I could be the first to say - ODFOD Grin

PresidentOliviaMumsnet I think I may be a little bit in love with you after that last post

Lurkedforever1 · 23/07/2016 20:16

One chooses to express one's self through the medium of bad language because one enjoys it. One finds it conveys one's emotion succinctly.

Fucking obvious why innit?

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 23/07/2016 20:17

I don't swear in front of DD. Ignores the fact that 2yo DD's current favourite song begins with the line "How does a bastard orphan son of a whore..."

If she does swear, I'll tell her about appropriate and inappropriate times to use said words.

And no doubt she'll ignore me and say "For fuck's sake!" in the middle of the most crowded supermarket with the health visitor, my MIL and the head of social services within earshot, because that's what asshole toddlers do.

And I'll be so fucking proud of her Grin people who fear words or assign levels of "goodness" to them are in the same league as twats people who call cake "naughty" and wine "cheeky". Words aren't bad or harmful, the context you use them in makes all the difference.

Douche canoe is my current favourite swear word.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 23/07/2016 20:17

Olivia. You truly are girl crush material 😘

Pax 😁

Op I'll have you know that I control my tongue really, really well, apparently 😛

KittensWithWeapons · 23/07/2016 20:19

My cats, I mean. That last post reads like I believe that I wield some great influence over the cats, like all the cats. Like I'm some kind of cat Goddess. I'm not, though that would be fucking awesome Wink

Onesieisthequeensselfie · 23/07/2016 20:19

I think I'm a little bit in love with Oliva!

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 23/07/2016 20:21

Neome. It's not classics worthy, it's also not 'inspired'. It's old, tired & worn out. The first few times it was genuinely hysterical, when people were seriously offended, not just stirring. Maybe some of those threads are in classics, not sure?

MrsHathaway · 23/07/2016 20:22

Today my 5yo called me through from the kitchen, saying, "Mummy, what's a whore?"

"A - a what, darling?"

"A whore. H - o - u - r. Whore."

::phew::

PacificDogwod · 23/07/2016 20:23

MrsHathaway Grin
Thank goodness you taught him right!

Buunychops · 23/07/2016 20:24

list your lascivious library of fucking favourite wankbadgering cluster nuggets

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Olivia………swoons

paxillin · 23/07/2016 20:26

MrsHathaway, that reminds me of a thread where the OP's ds googled "naked horse" when he meant "naked ladies with questionable sexual morals" (see, OP, no swear words).

EmpressOfTheVaginaDentata · 23/07/2016 20:28

Olivia, you are fucking fabulous and we bloody love you.

A bloke in our office apologised for using "fucking" the other day when he was pissed off. Not that anyone in the room gave a shit.

I took the opportunity to widen the office vocabulary with Cockwomble, WANKBADGERS, spunktrumpet, jizzpuffin and fucknugget. There was much appreciation.

(WANKBADGERS is in capitals because my phone insists on writing it like that - I think it must be its favourite word).

Lorelei76 · 23/07/2016 20:30

I don't like the idea of puffins wanking.
Badgers, I don't mind so much.

AddToBasket · 23/07/2016 20:30

Christ, there's some mean fucking bullying on this thread.

Just cos some tossers can't take some swearing, doesn't mean we should all be bullying cunty vipers at their fucking expense.

shazzarooney999 · 23/07/2016 20:31

we are all adults, not children, where on earth do you think you are? netmums????? where you get banned for farting!!

Houseconfusion · 23/07/2016 20:31

You're all setting the wrong example. Let me set your right.

We are fuckbadgering, twatcunting cuntytits.
You're motherfucking, cocksucking slimygits.
Fuck off, eff off, sod right off you twatty shits.

pointythings · 23/07/2016 20:33

Lorelei that's just puffinist. Don't puffins deserve sexual pleasure?

FruOla · 23/07/2016 20:41

I wonder if the OP is now f**king 'fumming'? Grin

hotdiggedy · 23/07/2016 20:43

Wow.

Lorelei76 · 23/07/2016 20:43

Pointy, of all the responses I was expecting, that definitely wasn't one Grin

It's just puffins are so cute

Whereas badgers look like they take every opportunity going to have a quick wank on their coffee break, IYSWIM.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/07/2016 20:48

If mumsnet users didn't swear I'd never have learned the word wankbadger.

As this applies to many, many people especially holiday makers driving on my locality in July not knowing this word would be a great loss to me.

woodenmouse · 23/07/2016 20:49

I spend all bloody day not swearing in front of my kids it's nice to have somewhere I don't have to worry about my language

AntiqueSinger · 23/07/2016 20:51

Why is everybody being so mean to the OP? Not everyone thinks it's clever to swear. This thread is quite petty and mean.
