To wake baby for a drink?

Never posted in AIBH before but thought it gets high traffic and looking for quick replies! :) my baby is 23 weeks and has just started sleeping through around 9 hours a night. Probably 10 hours from her last feed as she takes a while to drop off. First time nervous mum. Her room is very hot (about 25 degrees). I've got the door open and windows open all through the house to get a breeze going, and she is just in a vest and 1 tog sleep sack. I'm nervous about her getting thirsty but also nervous about encouraging night feeds again when she has only just started dropping them! So should I wake her before I go to bed for one last feed or should I trust that she'll wake and cry if she's thirsty??

You're being ridiculous! In the nicest way possible. 23 is roasting. They will be fine.

Young babies are far better at keeping warm than they are at cooling down. Much better for them to be slightly cold than hot. They can't sweat properly but have an extra insulating layer of brown fat to keep warm.

My 5 week old baby is currently asleep in his bedside cot wearing just a nappy and has only worn nappies all day today and still been roasting bless him. Can't imagine putting clothes on him today it's been 32c here in the Fylde!

Hope you both managed to sleep!
My little one didn't wear anything apart from a nappy all day yesterday, and it looks like it's going to be the same today.

Actually fed her in Costa while I was waiting to pick DD1 up from school yesterday. Draped her in a muslin, but still naked (was lovely to feel her skin next to mine) and 2 women actually came up and said poor thing/suffering in this heat/how great it was she had no clothes on in this weather! Smile

I'm actually pretty jealous that I can't get away with just wearing pants...Grin

We're currently in a cab on the way to the airport and little one is rocking her nappy in the car seat! I'm hoping the heat will finally knock her out as she's barely slept and I don't want a melt down on the flight!! Confused
