AIBU?

To find it weird that people still give Michael Jackson Godlike status??

Is it just me? They have now found pornographic images of young boys at his home yet people still talk about him as if he is so great. One particular person I know gets her son to do his MJ dancing and he wears his hat everywhere and it makes me feel ill. I don't think people would find this acceptable if it was about Gary Glitter, would they?? I don't get it, can anyone enlighten me?

Pagwatch - I think you are right to give context and what you say is completely true and well said.

How does anyone know whether he was actually sleeping with those women he was in "relationships" with I always assumed they were some kind of beards.

When did his own children come along? Poor things.

He married Lisa Marie and she admitted he was good in bed. His kids were with Debbie Rowe, who inotially was a sorrogate. The youngest was with an unknown surrogate.

If you went through the entire history of Western art and boycotted the work of everyone who acted in an illegal and immoral way there'd be precious little left. I still think Off the Wall is a great album, I just think the man who at the most charitable interpretation made some ill-advised and unusual choices in his relationship with children. I don't condone this, but think you can and should separate the work of art from the artist and their flawed and at times deeply unpleasant lives.

I used to think it was people out to get him because he was rich, but I don't feel that way at all now. I don't listen to him any more.

The more stories that come out, the more I feel really sorry for his kids, growing up having all this coming out. Their childhoods were already a shit show without all this.

Buy what has come out in the past few days that we didn't know before? TheRR is always a story that is re-hashed on the anniversary of his death. Personally (I say this expecting a bun to fly over my head), I think the thing that is more damaging for his kids is the endless speculation over whether he was a paedophile or not.

Jordan should never have been named in the press. It would never have been allowed here. Maybe that is why he now denies it happened.

I was abused and my parent took the payoff (with my agreement and I had good reasons). What kind of parent would do that? EXACTLY the kind of parent a pedophile would target.

There is no doubt in my mind MJ was a recurrent and calculating sexual predator of children.

YouSay - to me it is fairly convincing when his father committed suicide less than a week after. If he had done the right thing, he would have been dancing in the street.

Other thing that is odd - why did these parents continually allow their children to have these aleepovers? He had the reputation and parents still allowed it. I don't mean to underplay the seriousness of the allegations but the whole thing to me, seemed like some of these parents were on the make.

He didn't abuse anyone. Do some research into those 'allegations.' Also, he was Godlike in many ways.

He actually had various relationships with women.

He was Godlike in many ways. Please discover the greatest artist in history. So much of his best stuff is little known.

You’ve dug up a five year old thread just to defend Jacko? This thread is as much a zombie as he is.
BTW, he was a paedo and was very, very lucky to die when he did.

Jackson was one of the greatest singers & performers in the history of popular music. He fused pop, soul & rock to create a sound which had universal appeal across genres & demographics in a way nobody has come close to matching since.

He was also a predatory paedophile who cynically hid in plain sight behind a carefully constructed facade of ‘wacko Jacko’ eccentricity. He didn’t just groom boys in order to abuse them, he groomed an entire planet.

The problem is that while most people accept that these things are not mutually exclusive, and that both are true, there is an element of his most deluded fans who only accept the former. Some even resort to throwing around allegations of racism to deflect criticism of their hero. One wonders what their true motivations might be.

Yanbu, I don't get the appeal when also considering the allegations (which I believe).

Pp unfashionable has it right imo.

No one in Hollywood believes the current accusers. Both have a history of lies and deception. Especially Wade Robson, any one researching Wade and his family would have a very difficult time believing those allegations.
Also, virtually all of the Leaving Neverland allegations have been discredited. The train station Jimmy claimed to have been abused in hadn't even been built at the time. You need to look at both sides of the story instead of blindly believing a biased 'documentary'.

The Leaving Neverland 'documentary' has been thoroughly discredited. Including the fact that the train station Jimmy claimed to have been abused in hadn't even been built at the time.
You need to research both sides of the story rather than blindly believing a biased documentary and the tabloid media. They might have been more believable if they hadn't been asking for millions of dollars from MJ's estate.
