So my DH was speaking to someone at work the other day and mentioned to him about how he should bleach the washing machine due to germs etc.

So he decides to do a wash before he goes to work and adds bleach the picture shows the mess I walk into.

Aibu to ban him from ever using the machine again and expect some form of flowers or something for having to clean it up more then once!!!

I've done that before, too much bleach Blush. I cleaned it up though!

Couldn't be arsed with all the faffing and measuring and foam, I just buy the product made for cleaning washing machines that pp mentioned. Also buy something to clean the dishwasher once a month.

Keeps everything clean and fresh without the gamble of getting the quantities right.

Bleach does that if you use the 'thick' kind e.g. domestos or anything sold as 'toilet bleach'.
Tesco value thin bleach doesn't foam and is very good in washing machines.

I remember when DM was away having my sister, and DF decided he'd get the off-white (wool) blankets properly clean and white for when she got home, using bleach....What shocked her most was that as a pharmacist, he really should have known better. (Sixty years ago, people did use woollen blankets on beds, and husbands didn't use the washing-machine too often).

I don't put bleach in my washing machine but find ecover used at hot temps tends to foam...if it does it too much I chuck in some fabric conditioner - it kills off the bubbles...
I also ended up putting some in the waste water tank of my carpet washer after a DC split a bottle of bubble bath on the carpet and it kept foaming up so much it cut out when I was trying to clean it up -thinking bar soap would do the same -as it does in bubble baths?
